Offering the free weekend during this LS map farming and removing culling at the same time is a cheap way of tricking new players that your PvE maps are always active and full of players when we already know that is not the case.

I have had this game for 6 months and had my share of joy and enjoyment with it, but it seems to me that ANet focus is moving towards bring new players rather than adding more end game, WvW or fractals or dungeons, contents.

Why Anet refuses to add more dungeons or even include the existing dungeons that were introduced in the previous LS? Because it will kill PvE maps even more….

But the invasions don’t happen on maps under level 25.. it took me more than a weekend to get to level 25+ on my first character

Of course, this update has been luring people away from starter zones, considering the better champ box quality in higher areas and that invasions don’t happen under 25. So that doesn’t make a whole lot of sense, but okay.

The invasions are in mid level zones so new players wont see this. If anything, the opposite as people wont be in the starter zone as much. They’ve done exactly what the community asked for – epic content, whilst making mid level zones more active.

Also, they are bringing back the flame/frost and aetherblade dungeons later this year as fractals.

If this were the case, how come the current LS doesn’t cater to anyone in the newbie zones?

Exactly.

Ya this event is actually terrible for getting new players into the game. The low level zones are all dead, almost nobody is playing sub 25 alts, and they even just sent out a scroll to level a character to 20 instantly for the anniversary. Even the higher level zones aren’t much better off, only the zone with the invasion happening really has any activity, everywhere else is barren.

The low levels are terrible right now compared to what they were at launch. Most events are ignored, most contested waypoints remain unusable 90% of the time, if you take one solo it wont be held long because there’s nobody to defend it. It’s actually really annoying. It helps though that once you get to 35-40 you can level all the way to 80 in like one day doing invasions.
