List of completed maps
No there isn’t. Unless you check after each invasion whether or not the counter has gone up by one you have no way of checking if the invasion counted. Exactly like the diving goggles achievement, where I had to do almost all the jumps a second time to find the missing goggle, as they only seem to count if you actually jump off the high spot instead of just walk over the edge. A small mistake can take a lot of time. It sucks.
I once proposed the following change, so people who lack the brains to remember, where they have been, while not making up for it with pen and paper, still got a chance to know, whether they need a specific region.
The problem is, such changes to the UI are pretty hard to do and require a lot of fine-tuning and testing.
There is, however, one thing, which can be done. It can be done due to the nature of invasions:
As players don’t get to choose, where the invasion will take place anyway, there is not much need to provide a full list of unfinished regions. It’s enough to show for the specific invasion, which is currently running.
How to do that?
Simply: Create an alternate icon(as in, an alternative to that orange living world compass-star-thingie-whatever-it-is), which is displayed, if you have finished an invasion in the currently invaded region already.
As people could care less, which regions they have to finish and basically only need to know, whether they should hop in, when the new invasion pops up, this should already be sufficient for people who only want to do the invasions, they have to do for completion.
The mob has spoken and the turrets shall be burnt at the stake.
That would work. Anything to let someone know which area is repeatedly bugging out on them and not completing would be acceptable.
I don’t see why such changes to the UI would be hard to do. The information about which invasions each player has completed is already stored, as is the list of all the possible invasions. Just pull that through to the UI as a little checklist on the detailed achievement window when you click on it. It really shouldn’t be much harder than displaying whether a whole achievement is complete or not.
As a quick fix for the issue people have reported though, where some invasions don’t count for them, the idea of showing whether the current one is required or not would be a big help I’m sure.
As with the balloons, I’ve resorted to pen-n-paper to keep track of where I’ve been.
I think an achievement panel upgrade is needed for these types of achievements. The dungeons paths should have a little “story,1,2,3” with check marks if you click on the panes to see not only how many but which you’ve done. Same goes for the invasions and diving goggles.

I agree with having the achievements show what you still need on multiple optioned ones. Like the dungeon example. There are a few Achievements out there where I don’t know what left I have to do because of this. Just a 2/3 Tier 2 doesn’t help much… at all.
I did use Pen and Paper for this one.. All I need now is Frostgorge.
80 ~Warrior~ Delvoire | 80 ~Ele~ Azalea Avenir
80 ~ Guardian~ Rag Nor | Server ~ FA
Just use a pencil and paper. It’s not that complicated. Does a game really need to keep track of everything for you?

I agree that a more complex achievement panel is needed to keep track of the different tiers, like it exists for other games.
In the while, since we all know that we do not have yet an exhaustive tracking system, use the good old PAPER-PEN.
If you check the achievement and you see there is no record kept of what you are doing (or better said: of which parts you did already), then I am sorry, it will be your fault for not keeping track.

Old school tip, from when we hiked uphill both ways in the snow, is to always have a notepad and pencil handy.
The first thing I did was jot down the name of the zone I just did when I saw the achievement saying you had to do 13 separate zones. Once an hour? Randomish? I saw that trouble coming and took steps.
Ok, no steps, but I reached for my notepad and pencil.

Anytime there is a list of things you need to tick off, you should be able to see what you have and have not completed in the achievement panel.
Why? Because it is that complicated because it isn’t just a sheet of paper. It is just one sheet of paper for this event, but there are all kinds of achievements where you need to just keep a list: all the dungeon path completions, diving, all the map completions, etc. in addition to things like the event. You will end up with a binder full of instances of “1 sheet a paper”. Frankly, the achievement panel is crap compared to other MMOs and they really should fix it.
Did 13/13 with paper and pen
Yes, using paper and kitten an easy way to fix AN issue. I’m really aware of that. But this LS is closer to the end with each day passing and I don’t as much time as I would like to have. That’s why I thought that I would first ask for something that I could missed before I use this old fashioned way of doing things.
How quint… Pen and paper… While you’re sitting behind a PC!
I’m using my keyboard and Notepad++ :p
Yeah I dunno why paper and pen. I did it with Notepad too!
But still something Anet need to fix – and it sounds like they will in future. It’s not difficult to track individual things like these ourselves but we shouldn’t have to. It’d be nice if all such achievements were tracked properly, like in the rest of the civilised world.
A man can dream.
Oh come on…Pen and paper was only mentioned to visualize the idea. I just started log myself. Already found one. Some I’m 12/13 right now. :P
Pffft pen and paper are for noobs – I memorized all the maps I’ve done :P That being said, a tracker is definitely needed for achievements (and a non-useless suggested locations feature would be nice). I had no idea which maps had invasions until I checked the forums. I thought they would pop on every map except for Orr if I waited long enough…meh.
I tried that one but I failed…probably because of bug that sometimes don’t count map. Yesterday was map that I suspect of missing from my list. But this last one? I have no idea. As far as I know I did all the maps…sigh.
I wish they would add lists in general to the achievements. I’ve been playing for over a year now and don’t always remember which areas I’ve been to for the exploration piece (have had 174/175 of Shiverpeaks for a while, but don’t know where that last bit is). Would also be nice for the dungeon paths and diving goggles (the gods only know which of those I’ve already done and which I haven’t).
Lol…I had exact same problem with exploration. I have few achivs like your Shverpeaks and I even don’t where to start looking for what I’m missing.

…And one of them bugged out :P Now I’m stuck at 11/13, know, I still have to do Frostgorge and got no friggin clue, where else to go…
Probably Gendarran Fields/Mt. Maelstrom/Blazeridge Steppes tho, cause if I have to put my thumb on it, those were the ones which stood out.
The mob has spoken and the turrets shall be burnt at the stake.
From now on I will assume that the game will be bugged and will use my own checklist from the absolute beginning. This time I unfortunately I did not realize the need to do that until it was too late to know the status of 6 maps.
Since it is bugged and not working properly, I could have for example, Frostgorge bugged out on me and could repeat it and it not show advancement again. That would not mean that it was not the one I needed to complete. It would mean it was the one that bugged out on me yet again. If you did not start your list at the very beginning and check after each invasion to see if it advanced or not then you do not know which map bugged out on you. And to top it all off, you may never know and it may never advance for you. No matter how many times you complete it.
And what do you think about this: this whole bugged/not advanced thing is just big conspiracy so we would not stop playing those events right after finishing particular map.
Yes, pen & paper is the obvious way to track your invasions. No brainer. Stop whining. All that.
But the point is that we shouldn’t have to do that. I don’t really mind for temporary things like the invasions and balloons. But for things like dungeon paths and diving goggles, things that you encounter along the journey from 1-80 before you might even know about achievements…they need trackers.

That’s… it… aw c’mon, why has that NEVER occurred to me?!
I must have tripped and rolled downhill both ways in the snow and hit my head too many times. What will you young people think of next?

I agree. I have done several dungeon paths, but I’ve no idea which ones . It only says 1/4, 3/4, etc.
The problem with the invasions is that you can think you’ve done it, but it never registered. And if you don’t check immediately, how will you know which one you missed?

What is a pencil? Where in the app store is that?
Like some of the others above I should have anticipated that I would lose track of what I had already done (11 so far…) just like I lost track of which dungeon paths I did back in the day.
I think part of the problem with temporary content is that I try to do it so fast and all in the first couple of days because that is when people are trying to finish and you are more likely to finish. The problem is that in the rush I don’t anticipate these types of problems well.
I wish the UI would reflect the areas or the achievement not require unique areas and allow duplicate map runs.
I think adding a checklist for hard to remember things is nice. Especially with map completion!

I’ve manage to get 13/13 using Windows Notepad and a little luck – played on five maps and two of them gave last two missing points.
All I need now is Frostgorge.
Good luck :P
Don’t support the Gem Shop, it’s that easy.
Enough of this pen and paper kitten. It’s not about that, people are borked over because one of the maps didn’t count. People assumed they counted when they finished them, and rightfully so. They shouldn’t have to check to make sure it counted when they did exactly what they’re supposed to do. Problem is one of them didn’t count. When there’s 13 maps it’s kind of hard to tell which one didn’t count. That’s why the checklist would show which one they didn’t get credit for and they wouldn’t need to keep doing pointless maps and wasting their play time.
From now on I’m just tracking the achievement to see if the percentage goes up. I’ve eliminated about 7 of the maps because I saw the percent increase and know for sure that is not what I’m missing. I wish I’d have done that from the start.

They shouldn’t have to check to make sure it counted when they did exactly what they’re supposed to do.
Another old school trait is paranoia. I immediately checked at the end of every go around to make absolutely sure it counted. Only then would I use the pencil and paper.

I also checked after, but I didn’t keep track of which maps I did in order. I know the first six counted because I looked, but I don’t remember what those maps were. Had I known the achievement was buggy like this I definitely would have written it down. I know some achievements in the past have been buggy (the balloons I guess, I had no problems there), but this is my first time experiencing completion problems.

I believe you can give your opinion without being rude, don’t you think? We may or not “lack the brains”, but still knowing which areas do you already complete is a good change to the ui.
As a matter of fact, is a good change not only on this LS, but also in the dungeon list, the balloon towers, and so on.
The problem is, such changes to the UI are pretty hard to do and require a lot of fine-tuning and testing.
Not really. The game knows which areas you already had completed. You can list the already completed areas on the achievement description, or in a tooltip that shows up when you hover your mouse over it, without really changing the ui of the game, don’t you think? Is a fast and probably error-free change that will give us a lot of advantage!
@ Sorrow’s Furnace (VE)
You aren’t going to get this. You know how long people have been asking for a list of completed dungeons when you hover over it or something in the Achievement panel??? About a year.
