I don’t want to just add my voice to the chorus, but for the most part this update is the first time I’ve felt like Arena.net doesn’t value my time. I’m a father of two young kids and I can only log on for an hour or so every night around the same time. Up until now, I’ve basically been able to complete all the content slowly but surely over the month.

However, since I can only advance the Emissary Vorpp’s Field Assistant achievements if I complete invasions on new maps, I’ve been stuck at 4/5 for a couple days because I’ve seen the same maps when I was able to sign on.

I don’t understand why I can’t do the same maps once a day and advance the achievements. The event takes nearly an hour, so I can only do one, maybe two a night. Now I’m not sure I’ll be able to see Scarlet’s Funhouse because I’m worried I’ll see the same maps every night.

It really feels like Arena.net is punishing legitimate players in order to force farmers to go to different maps, and given the amount of time required to complete the event, it just seems completely unnecessary.

hey man
playing an hour a day just won’t be enough to get EVERYTHING done.
it may have worked in the past but just because there happens to be new content where you can’t do literally everything with a restricted time schedule doesn’t mean you’re being punished.
normally, restricted time schedules for games ends up being that you can do >most< things, not >all< the things.
this event takes longer than others. it happens.

and tbh, if you play an hour each day, odds are heavily in your favor that you’re gonna get a new map.
so like, statistics disagrees with what you’re saying.

The sad thing is you have no guarantee of getting a new map even on the same night. The past couple of nights zones have been recurring back to back. Last night I swear Lornar’s Pass came up 3x in a row.

Considering that you’re completely shut out of the Pavilion until you complete every part of the Queen’s Speech segment of the Living Story I thought one invasion should have been sufficient. There’s no reason to have people doing it 6x, especially when the invasions last 45 minutes a piece (35 of which are mandatory since you cannot zone into an invasion past the 10 minute mark) and there’s no guarantee you’ll get credit. (It seems to be hit or miss whether a loss counts.)

Look, I’m not trying to be entitled. I don’t usually post on game forums because I know how caustic the community tends to be. The only reason I’m posting this is because I really care about the game that I’ve been playing for a year now. Up until now, I’ve felt like Arena.net has really valued my time and treated me well.

This is the first time I’ve felt like there was an arbitrary restriction gating me from experiencing the Living Story. I thought it was worth bringing it up in case it could possibly affect their design discussions in the future.

Respond to five of Scarlet’s portal invasion and be there when each one ends.
I don’t know where you’re getting different. You don’t need the event to succeed. You don’t need it to be on a different map each time. You don’t need to even do squat, just tag one event (even this might be unnecessary) and go do something else for 45 minutes. Maybe come back in about 20 to move your toon 5 feet so you don’t get logged out. Simple as that.

Something seems to be wrong here. You don’t need 5 different maps to progress the story content. You only need different maps for the 13/13 Invasion Stopper achievement.

Make sure you get into the invasion map a few minutes after it starts, tag an event, and go AFK for a bit to do the things you need to do. Come back in 45 and you should be at 5/5.

Somewhere a dev said, that if you are able to log in just in one specific time a day, you shoud be able to see invasion in all maps…hour a day may not be ideal, but at least you can progress in story, since there is one invasion every hour. just make it happen that you log in every whole hour and you should be good

People QQ if content requires time and effort. “We have lives, we can’t play all day. Give us simple things we can actually finish”

People QQ if content holds your hand and gives you achieves easily. “No challenge or skills needed in this game, just easymode. Give us hard content!”

Anet can’t win here. They took the middle road with this one – requires effort and teamwork but can be completed by non-hardcores – and still both sides do nothing but complain.

OP – I’m going to be slightly mean but I’m honestly tired of “make achieves/Living Story easier”. It’s practically being handed to people at this point with even failed invasions counting for some of those. The map does need to be fixed because it’s grating on almost everyone but I sincerely doubt “farmers” are the cause of the map rotation being frustrating.

And to agree with others.. an hour a day isn’t going to get everything done content wise nor should it. Took me about three days to get Vorpp’s deal done and Scarlet’s Playhouse, four to get the meta achieve.

Failed invasions count of everything so far as I know, so yeah. The only thing you lose from failing is part of the map-wide reward at the end.

If you’ve been playing consistently for a year then you would know it’s not their first time having created content that was time sensitive. We had the opening of the Mad King’s dungeon cutscene that was a one time event. The dungeon itself was open for only a few days. Then you had the one time karka event that could only be completed at the time it occurred. If you missed it then you were out of luck.

Scarlet’s invasions occur every hour. It’s really not quite as bad as things were before. I’m not sure if you’re just getting unlucky with the maps. Maybe within a 24 hour period they really do get back to the exact same map at the exact same time. Then again, you also have to factor in major world bosses too. Whenever a major boss like the Shatterer spawns, the invasions are put on hold. This only occurs before an invasion rather than before it.

Regardless whether anyone agrees with OP, one thing is for sure. The RNG of these invasions and the inability to track progress is total bullkitten.

I would have been done a couple days ago if not for the fact that the invasion of the zone I need never appears.

If you log in at the same time every day, you’ll get all the maps done. It was said by Collin(i think). Search button might have helped you more than this thread.

Yes, he did say you’d get all of the maps if you log in at the same time each day. (However, the search button on these forums is terrible…it’d be hard to find it). Also, find one other person who has done the Vorpp stuff and has access to the Play House instance. Run the Play House instance with them, and presto! you have access to the Pavilion again. You do NOT have to do all of the Vorpp stuff yourself, unless you are interested in being able to run the Play House instance solo, or start it for others.

Hope that helps.
