Desolation
Q:
hi guys,
Do mobs and Scarlet scale in power depending on how many players enter the instance (Playhouse)?
It seems that it is solo-able quite easily, anyone tried in 2-3 players? Or is it convenient to run it either in solo or in full group?
A:
If you just want to complete the instance, then it’s easy either way.
If you are achievement hunting, then group will definitely be easier, the scaling is nowhere as crazy as candidate trial.
ps. I mean group of 5, if you go with 2~3 people, it is actually harder than solo.
The mobs scale up with more players. I had to go solo to get the perfectionist achievement.
I found it easier to get the perfectionist achievement solo. A group just makes the mobs harder, even more so if they don’t know what they’re doing. Insert typical PuG rant
Saving Lord Faren is easier in a group though. And at least you can easily run past all the mobs.
Did solo all achievs in first try
As a group (3ppl), we saved Faren quicker and got the achievement. Then afterwards we “played it safe” and simply killed all the mobs completely as we progressed. We pulled mobs so we could cut ’em down as we went. None of us died and we got the perfection achievement as well.
- we moved as a unit each area
- killed all nearby mobs, left no stragglers
Ofc, I also got pretty far trying solo, so it could vary per person regarding groups.
Yeah its pretty easy solo just kill what needs to be killed all the mobs in between or on way to can be skipped they will reset and in some spot will path out of your way.
Easier solo. You skip a lot of content and the boss fights are extremely easy.
Thanks to everyone for the useful info
My experience as a GUARDIAN:
solo
tanky build – hard if not impossible to do faren within time for achiev
full zerker – walk in the park
with 1 more guy
we got facerolled.
/ If u ask me – if ur after achievs then go solo.
Either is doable as long as you don’t get unlucky and end up with two Veteran Twisted Horrors combining into a (silver) Twisted Nightmare during the cauldron phase (particularly if you want all achieves). This can happen whether in a group or solo, so.
Generally, if there’s an option to solo something, it will likely be the easier route.
Any warriors who did this solo? any advice on utilities or such?

Actually, it depends on skill level. The enemies are scaled to a solo player level, but if the player him/herself can’t handle it, then I would recommend calling in backup.
took me two tries to solo it for all the achievements on a thief, so I guess I’d say solo is easier

Yeah that was just a generalized statement. There will always be the few that need to be carried.

I did it on my warrior.
I ran GS/rifle (mostly used GS, really), 30/30/0/10/0, healing signet/FGJ/Shake It Off/Berserker Stance/Signet of Rage. No real trick to it, berserker stance is useful vs twisted horrors and aetherblade thugs/strikers to avoid getting knocked down and stunned. Kill twisted horrors ASAP to avoid having them merge into vets (two vets can merge into nightmare, you don’t want that). Avoid mobs when moving from area to area. For Scarlet you can swap Berserker Stance with Frenzy to get quickening when she’s stunned or busy charging up her attack, and hack away with your greatsword. Last part takes a bit of dodging to avoid getting downed, but that’s pretty much it.
Definitely go solo for Playhouse Perfectionist. Most enemies will be run of the mill mooks, with only a few veterans thrown into the mix — and most of those can be avoided.
Solo. Completed all of the achievements in two runs with a thief. Might be especially easy with a thief – invis and run past most of the mobs.
Solo as engineer. I only had 2 problems:
1) Veteran near Faren. Someone hinted me that I needed to kill that 2 normal mobs that are nearby very fast cause the transformed into that veteran. I did this and with a good dps build it was possible to kill the other mobs that got spawned by Scarlet very fast and rescue Faren within 3 minutes.
2) The mob groups after Faren and between the first boss fight. But with the right skills(I always forgot to change my skills a bit) it is easy to just run past them… at a later try when I tried a bit slower I noticed they move in grous and it is possible to “sneak” past them… at least I made it almost until the end when I got aggro… not perfectly sneaking but it was enough to not get downed.
The boss fights itself are easy. Easiest solo boss fights in living story so far(easier then Canach solo mode).
