I really liked the Closing Ceremony and I find Scarlet a really interesting character. The instance was really great.

“Don’t panic… yet.”
“See you soon!”
This suggests that this is not over. Not by a long shot. It also suggests that there is a plan to all of this.

“I’ve been laughing my leaves off while your queen brays about “trails” and “endurance.”"
“It’s time to show how fragile human society is.”
Scarlet laughs at the frailty of the Krytan kingdom. A nice touch.

“Oh, and I’ll be taking your queen with me. Hang on, Your Majesty. It’s going to be a wild ride.”
Scarlet has something against Queen Jennah. Why did she attempt to kidnap her? She had a plan.

“I- once- attended- a- Consortium- workshop- on- hostage- negotiation. We- should- cooperate- with- them.”
A nice reference to the events in ‘The Secret of Southsun’.

“Oops, did I say four bombs? I meant five.”
“Goods… She’s bombed our evacuation point. My men… All of those civilians…”
A nice simple twist. From this we can understand she is toying with us, detonating the fifth bomb (morbidly killing all the civilians) after she watches us ‘scurry’ around trying to disarms the first four bombs.

“By the Tree, what have I done? What a monstrous traged- (laughs) Sorry, I just couldn’t keep a straight face.”
This is interesting because she says ‘by the Tree’. You would start to think “would someone with the nightmare court of just downright crazy still be connected to the Dream of Dreams?” But considering she was just faking her empathy, this could’ve just been just part of that.

“Countess Anise’s security measures depended on as few people as possible knowing about them.”
We learn that the crazy transformation was created by Anise as a security measure, not by Scarlet (although she might have tampered with their looks a bit).

“There were indications of a threat, so I concealed the real queen until it revealed itself. Now it has. And it’s spreading.”
Being a Mesmer, the closing ceremony used a Mesmer clone to root out Scarlet. Scarlet was initially after the queen, but why?

“I know of this Scarlet. She earned advanced engineering degrees at each of Rata Sun’s colleges in record time”
“Asura-, charr-, norn-, and even hylek-trained, if you believe the stories. All I know for sure is the she claims to have seen the Eternal Alchemy, and to understand it… which is patently false.”
“Nobody ever “sees” the Eternal Alchemy. That’s like claiming to see the shape of the universe, or to understand how reality works. If it’s beyond every asura genius, it’s beyond her.”
And here’s the best part of this story. Scarlet is mysterious due to her history. She is a sylvari that is supposedly equal to or surpasses asura intellect. She says she has seen the Eternal Alchemy; which has founded the ideology of the Asura- and she claims to understand it. That is very interesting. Vorpp also recognises her so she must be well known in Rata Sum. So what happened in Rata Sum? Did she “see” the Eternal Alchemy which caused colleges to kick her out and pursue Norn, charr and hylek technology? Or did seeing the Eternal Alchemy take a negative effect on her mental wellbeing? This is interesting stuff!
