Now we have cannon that says Sylvari are indeed smarter than Asura.
Sylvari are immune to Dragon Corruption.
Sylvari are able to glow…
I think its pretty much set that in Tyria, Sylvari are indeed the master race.
You can make a salad out of a Sylvari.
Just wait for primordus.
Sylvari will make a good fireplace.
They can’t have tattoos though, and for that they will always be inferior to the Norn…
Give me my God Kitten human tattoos, ANet! Please!
Just wait for primordus.
Sylvari will make a good fireplace.
Sylvari Engis that use flamethrowers, Sylvari Guards using pretty much any weapon, and Sylvari Eles attuned to fire would like to have a word with you!
XD
Sylvari also don’t seem to age. They can also have all the sexy funtimes they want without risk of pregnancy and STD’s (well, mammalian STDs, at any rate).
But… but… splinters….
They would be…. if not for that dance.
Don’t forget, briskets taste best when smoked over sylvari.
One Sylvari =/= All.
Not to mention she is also from an alternate universe. Likely one where sylvari are smart. ;p
Now we have cannon that says Sylvari are indeed smarter than Asura.
Have fun walking everywhere on your toothpick legs when we shut down the gates, silly bookah.
ugh.. it’s like Anet is angry Sylvari aren’t popular so they over-compensate by now making one laughably super-smart.
And they’re mad Norn are really popular so they make Brahm weak sauce & Norn have almost no impact on the story.

Well, they might feel a little disappointed in the Norn, as well. In GW1 when they were bigger and transformed into a werebear freely, they were more interesting.
Now they’re literally just slightly larger humans with a different culture.
The Kodan are what Norn should have been.
Don’t think there’s no downsides on any of that.
Being to smart can make you crazy or depressed. Glowing will reveal you in the dark. Not being affected by corruption means you lack something the other races have that may be something good to have. Like a soul.
you don’t need a soul when you can dress like a fairy and glow in the night to allure enemies to you^^
The Kodan are what Norn should have been.
Definitely disagree with that.
I agree the whole shape-shifting thing was totally fumbled. It might as well not exists in GW2, it’s weak, not long enough to be fun & has no connection to your character. But the artificial way they keep trying to TELL me Sylvari are cool is so silly. If they put half the effort into the Norn it would be nice. Instead, Norns are the big idiots at the end of the meat-head joke & little sylvari girls can break their arms & are smarter than Asura. The cool old-man-sage-warrior in the mountains with the connection to the mists is apparently dropped in favor of the annoying not-believable villain-sue genius.
Now we have cannon that says Sylvari are indeed smarter than Asura.

The Pale Tree was suppose to become the elder Jungle Dragon’s champion but rebelled… like Glint. Ventari’s Tablet changed everything. Your entire race was actually suppose to be the unwitting minions of the elder Jungle Dragon. The Nightmare Court is what the Sylvari true form is.
It’s not that Sylvari are immune to Dragon Corruption it’s that the Sylvari are already “owned” by an elder dragon; just not officially claimed thanks to the Pale Tree’s actions. Evidence? Risen cannot be Branded. Branded cannot be Icebrooded. If you look closely you will not see a Branded Sylvari or an Icebrood Sylvari. The law of ownership states that which is owned by one force cannot by nature become the property of another force.
More Evidence? Minions of elder dragons will fight minions of other elder dragons. That the Sylvari fought Zhaitan and his Risen means nothing heroic. It is their “nature” to attack their enemies.

Trahearne single-handedly destroys your statement OP.
Trahearne is still cooler than Logan Thackary, and most human npcs
and the pale tree as a dragon minion theory has beed proved false several times
Sylvari also don’t seem to age. They can also have all the sexy funtimes they want without risk of pregnancy and STD’s (well, mammalian STDs, at any rate).
they haven’t existed long enough to die of old age lol.
sylvaris ARE the master race though, love’em.
Unfortunately, due to Scarlet’s blabber mouth everyone now knows the one weakness Sylvari have is cannonballs.
Don’t forget that they are born with the knowledge of those that came before them. Although not every piece of knowledge is given to every sylvari, it’s a pretty cool racial advantage to have.
One Sylvari =/= All.

She’s not from an alternate dimension. She was trained by the asurans. Vorpp knows of her.
and the pale tree as a dragon minion theory has beed proved false several times
By whom? No one. It is a theory as solid and based on evidence as those who present their case against. I will tell you that Arenanet is known for weaving intricately complex stories. Stories within stories if you will.
They’ve established that Jormag has fully grown Icebrood created from organic beings and snow and ice. Primodus has fully grown Destroyers created from earth and fire. Zhaitain had fully grown Risen created from the corpses of living beings. Kralkatorrik has fully grown Branded created from organic beings and earth.
Colin has already confirmed the existence of an elder Jungle dragon. The writers are not going to deviate from the archetype they’ve established for the elder dragons. The Jungle Dragon would, like his contemporaries, have fully grown minions. These creatures would assume the characteristics of its host. In this case nature. And like all other minion they would be immune to the corruption of other elder dragons.
The Sylvari spawned from the Pale Tree fully grown within the last 25 years. The Pale Tree came from one of many seeds that was planted by Ronan, and guided and raised by Ventari. Had this tree lacked Ventari’s influence the Sylvari would be a MUCH difference race than they are today.
The Nightmare Court are in fact what the Sylvari suppose to be. Scarlet is likely either a member of the Nightmare Court or a member of the White Mantle; an organization who is rumored to be in hiding within the Maguuma Wastes; an area that is likely the seat of the elder Jungle Dragon’s power.

every single piece of that is a lie if you even played a sylvari and picked the storyline “where life goes so should you.” clearly shows a sylvari from another pale tree and he’s actually a very nice guy. he still fights if he believes it’s just but he isnt like the nightmare court(who are hinted to be persuaded but not corrupted by something sinester"
If this guy talks bout sylvari don’t listen to him.
Ha, you bookahs and your jokes.
Anyone have a source for the this confirmation of there being a jungle dragon? I’ve never seen such a thing.

If “you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth?” – Sherlock Holmes
What is more likely? 25 years ago a tree becomes sentient, gives birth to free roaming beings, then all of sudden begins to fill Tyria with these beings at an alarming rate, or the Pale Tree is actually breeding minions to protect herself against her former owner.
Glint did the same exact thing only she used humans as her shield. Humans, who I might add, can be branded by Glint’s master Kralkatorrik.

From the GW2 wiki:
“The jungle dragon, referred to as Mordremoth, is mentioned in ancient texts unearthed by the Durmand Priory. This dragon has not yet been observed to have any noticeable impact on the world. As such, its state is unknown and information about the Elder Dragon is highly limited, leaving most of which can only be speculated. Colin Johanson mentions the Maguuma Jungle in reference to this dragon.”

but you haven’t eliminated the impossible at all so your point is irrelevant. Considering that we have gods in this universe the idea of some plant life actually doing this in response to a perceived threat isn’t unlikely. you just want this to be true so you deliberately ignore other things.
There’s the devs saying that the 6th dragon has no real impact yet. there’s the sylvari from another pale tree who is clear proof that the tablet doesn’t alter their nature it only gives them guidance. hell the sylvari is a good guy without any knowledge of the tablet so there goes your"the tablet altered their nature hur hur". Also the seeds came from a cave and just because zhaitan’s magic doesn’t work doesn’t mean others don’t(we’ve yet to have any real clarification on this so ya) and you’re bs line"dragons can’t claim other minions".
ya you ever do CoE? the inquest actually combining dragon corruption. just because the dragons don’t make it habit to corrupt other dragon minions doesn’t mean they won’t(i realize could easily just say that’s proof since they haven’t had any visible corrupt but my point is that most of the other dragons prefer to corrupt in a specific way which is still isn’t proof in your favor)
Another possibility is that the Sylvari are the latest transplant by the gods. It wouldn’t be the first time they plunked a new species on the planet. Maybe Melandru gets to have fun this time around. Who knows. (And then there is the whole what is the connection between the gods and the dragons thing.)

as far as the seed from where the pale tree came from shows. they’ve been around in seed form at least for 250 years easily more. I wouldn’t doubt if somehow the sylvari were an actual race back during the last dragons that had their trees lay seeds and they hid them away hoping one day their race could survive. doubtful surely but it’s better then “everything is a dragon minion just because”
Yeah, not saying they are new. Just saying we have no indication the Sylvari aren’t new either (e.g. you think the dwarves would say something if the Sylvari were obviously dragon minions). There was a cave with some seeds and one turned into the Pale Tree, thats all we know.

You forgot a few things:
-They can predict the future (or at least their tree can).
-They’re among the best blacksmiths in the world (Norn, Tengu and…no, not a Charr).
-The first magical sword they make can cleanse an entire continent. The first magical armor they make is inpenetrable.
-They’re the foremost expert on undead and Orr.
They get to lead the pact, but suprisingly also appear as seconds in many of the other organizations.
-The whole ‘curious, rookie, emotions are complicated’ thing has been dropped entirely. They’re now noble paladins that know all, can all and must be seen by all.
The thing about the tablet and the dragon issue is… Even though our known sylvari are spawned form the Pale Tree as we know it, whos to say this dormant Dragon is even evil to begin with? Hence why even Sylvari from other trees might be good natured if there wasn’t any ‘corruption’ to begin with.
If I recall, there are a few good dragons in the lore. But hey, don’t quote me on that. I was wrong once already in this thread. lol
A whole race isn’t smarter just because it has one individual who excels… they also have Trahearne. Case closed.

The dragons aren’t even actually evil to be technical. They only do what they do so they can eat. They don’t understand the need for civility or diplomacy or even empathy for anything. they only understand their wants and needs. Evil is knowing something is wrong(by an ethical standpoint and to be very technical evil and good is purely an opinionated thing. it’s only because most people share an overlying code in ethics that it seems they are fact).

Well, by most Tyrian standards they are a ‘Great Evil’, even if they are simply going by instinctual. I just remember that there was a few I recall that weren’t bent on consuming the world like a natural disaster.

The only thing they’ve been consuming as far as we know yet is just purely magical artifacts and magic in general and they just happen to destroy whatever is in their perceived way to their next meal.
the only good dragon that even remotely good was glint and her children because glint was freed from her masters control by the forgotten through a ritual that’s actually replicated in gw2 with an undead chicken in an arah path.
*Charr sitting patiently in the background*
If sylvari were dragon minions, that would mean Mordremoth was the first dragon to wake up, during gw1 even as we saw the sprout of the pale tree, so I very much doubt sylvari are dragon minions
Also I don’t understand the hate with Trahearne, compared to the rest of the story, he’s really not bad at all

I’m trying to remember where I saw this but I remember an interview with one of the leads that said something like the Elder Dragons wake up at different times. During Guild Wars, while the other ED slept, Primordus was able to awake but not fully. His full awaken was delayed when the Great Destroyer was defeated.
Also I don’t understand the hate with Trahearne, compared to the rest of the story, he’s really not bad at all
It’s not that people hate Trahearne it more that they hate that he usurped their story. It was your story and then all of sudden it became his story. The first time through my reaction was “who is this plant guy and why is my story about him?”
But they said that primordius was the first one to wake up, not one of the first, and didn’t they explain where the seeds came from too? like some soldier came back from a cave to see his village destroyed? Seeds from a cave don’t sound like a dragon thing, but I could be wrong.
I understand the hate towards Kormir in gw1, my qualm was she never shut up. but it’s not like those npcs are undeserving or unfitting. That’s mostly what i mean, the story was mostly such garbage anyways, that why even care.
Salad? Don’t make me laugh when all of the other races can be turned into sausages.
Also, let me set a few things straight:
If the sylvari were dragon minions, they’d be corruptible. They’re not corruptible.
If Ventari’s tablet guided the Pale Tree differently than intended, Malyk would not be a fairly decent person by Ventari’s standards.
Dragon minions CORRUPT. They do not grow, they corrupt. Primordus corrupts stone and lava, Kralkatorrik corrupts people and land with crystalline corruption, Jormag corrupts people and is able to corrupt snow as well, Zhaitan corrupts people, corpses, god statues and temples, and an entire undead nation. The Pale Tree grows. It does not corrupt humans or charr into a sylvari, the Tree grows a sylvari in a pod until they are born.
As an end result, whether the sylvari is Trahearne or Scarlet, they are unable to be corrupted by any known Elder Dragon’s influence. They simply die.
It is interesting that they are incorruptible but it is more likely that they were created to fight the Dragons by an ancient and long dead race than being Dragon minions themselves.
@I See No Tomorrow actually the minions of dragons can’t be corrupted by other dragons, or at least all evidence so far points to that. there are inquest mixing dragon magics; however, I’m not entirely sure that’s relevant

Except that sylari ARE corruptable. The Nightmare Court can corrupt them. Just like Svanir corrupt norn into more svanir, etc.
Now we have cannon that says Sylvari are indeed smarter than Asura.
We have no such thing. We have a claim that a single Sylvari bothered to do what most if not all Asura find pointless waste of time.

While all that is indeed 99% certain to be true, I don’t think we necessarily need to think of the Nightmare court as the “true form” of the Sylvari. I like to think of them more as Sylvari that have lost any sort of guidance, either from the Plae Tree or from the dragon himself. And as for Mordremoth… he strikes me as odd. You see, all other dragons represent destructive aspects of nature – death, fire, ice, thunder, water – and have already started rampaging across Tyria. Yet Mordremoth is the dragon of… trees and flowers I guess, and he hasn’t even bothered anyone so far. He just seems to me more like the kind of dragon that cleans up the mess of the others after they’re done. Which leaves me to believe that the Sylvari were created specifically to repopulate Tyria after it’s destroyed by the other 5 dragons. Which means… we are the master race
