After spending two days only needing Mount Maelstrom, the issue with the randomness – spesifically why it’s such a pain – has become obvious to me.

I cannot commit to anything else except for Guild Wars.

For example, I want to go out somewhere. I did that on day one, and missed Mael.
I want to watch a movie – Have to keep checking the clock so I can log in every hour to check.
I want to play Dota – Can’t, matches are too long and I might miss the event.

Even though it only takes a few minutes to check, the fact that the game has taken over my entire day without me actually playing it has really become a burden.

If there was a rotation, it would totally solve this – I’d just go on when i knew it was that event, and could happily spend my day doing things.
So far, Maelstorm has appeared just before I got up twice, and just after I went to sleep once. Considering there are 13 maps, having these on rotation for a week puts all of them in a 2hr slot. It’s impossible to be unlucky and miss out due to only being during the night.

Plus, we’ve had nothing but dupes of the last 10 hours for the last 5, it’s getting dumb.

I have the same issue – can’t possibly get the maps done, they are repeating close together for ones we already have (three times in four hours, come on!) and not knowing which maps are done is part of this mess and problem.

You aren’t the only one saying it and this is about the fourth thread about this same subject.

The whole event was slapped together without much thought as to how people were going to live their lives and get 13 maps too.

Anet isn’t reading the forums at all from what I can see.

I made sure to keep a list of mine, but that barely makes it better. The fact that I’ve put in about 30 hours in the last two days has severely burned me out of this game, and it;s not like it’s engaging content; it’s just zerging.

I kinda wish we had monthly updates with a bit more too them, or at least a bit more polish.
Theres a reason WoW has such a slow patch cycle and months of testing.

Ya I feel the same way. I was seriously losing all motivation to play the game at all, it felt like a chore logging in every hour even when I wanted to be doing something else. Luckily I managed to finish the achieve yesterday, when I got the last one it was like I was set free and could once again do whatever I wanted whenever I wanted. Huge design flaw. They may be ignoring the issue(s) because you can skip said achieve and still get the overall LW reward. Looking back on it, for 25 points I probably wouldn’t go through that again, it was just once I started I felt like I had committed and had to finish.

I hate the logic of “But it’s optional” – The entire game is optional. I want to play the content, I want the achievement points, I want to play the game. It’s not optional.

Honestly, unless the next update is super adventure box again I’ll probably give it a miss, and I haven’t missed an achievement yet (Except for Liadri because I only have a ranger and PvE is spectacularly balanced…)

I’m not saying I agree with that sentiment, it’s just the only reason I can come up with for why they would be so blatantly ignoring all the many gamebreaking issues with these events.

As I said in an earlier post, there is a reason WoW has such a long patch turnaround and such a long public testing phase. You can’t rush out content like this and have it only stick around for two weeks – It takes months of refinement before it’s right.
I’d rather have less and better, the current crop is leaving me feeling eh while I’m doing it.

Super adventure box, The second Southsun and the first half of Four Winds were good, and they keep me coming back. It’s not getting better though, and that worries me.

I agree that they should have had all the zones appear once in 13 hours and then reorganise the order each time so it’s fair to each time zone.

Having said that, I say this almost every event to my guildies where there’s a hella difficult or time consuming achievement – this game becomes so much more relaxing and enjoyable when you just do the achievements you enjoy doing. It really isn’t worth the points if it is burning you out or making you stop doing other things. They will continue to introduce hardcore time gated achievements in this living story – and personally I’m okay with that. If someone wants to top the leaderboards or be on the top of their guild by playing constantly for a week, more power to them.

I just look at it this way – are 25 points really worth me possibly burning myself out and not playing for a month, which means I’ll then miss out on hundreds of points?

It’s not like you have to do every zone anyway. And no, achievements are not a valid excuse to let a game take over your life (lol).

Just who the hell do you think I am!?

You don’t need to shuffle the order, since it’s not divisible by 24 it automatically manipulates itsself.
Over the course of a week every map will occur at least once in every two hour slot, so it’s 100% possible to get it regardless of time zone.

Keep in mind that the reason the LW updates have increased to every two weeks isn’t because they are spending less time on each one (theoretically), it’s because they hired extra teams. So instead of working on 2 different updates at the same time and releasing them every month, they are working on 4 at a time and releasing every 2 weeks. Random numbers, could be 1 and 2 or 3 and 6, I dunno, point is the reason the content is buggy isn’t because it’s rushed as much as they just aren’t bothering to test as thoroughly, or perhaps haven’t increased their QA team size proportionate to their LW dev team sizes. The speed of these updates isn’t a bad thing, I don’t want them slowing down because everyone asked for it when they could instead be asking for better QA in general.

What I don’t like about the invasion design is that I feel like I have to plan my play time around them. I can’t do something else like a dungeon because an invasion might start while I’m in it and I will miss out. I’ve loaded into more maps that told me the invasion isn’t happening on that overflow than I’ve loaded into maps with the actual invasion (and twice during an invasion I was disconnected for some reason when I don’t normally have connections issues).

I don’t like the 10 minute window ever hour to access the invasions. It feels like I can’t do other stuff that takes a long time unless I’m willing to opt out of an invasion.
