I want to know what you guys think about the interactions of Braham, Rox and now Faren.
Are they becoming the new “time of heroes” like Destiny Edge??

As far as I can tell the new Destiny’s Edge is the Rule 63 version of the previous DE. So we’ll have a female human, a male asura, and a male sylvari. Maybe they’ll let Canach out and he’ll join DE. Hue. And maybe Majory will be the human! … hmmm…

I hope they let Hobo-Tron join the team!

Farens stupidity gets him into mildly interesting situations. I’d tune in bi-weekly to catch his misadventures and misogyny.

If they turned Faren into a stumbling, wine-swilling drunk that pushed his misogyny into randomly spouted lewd comments, like to Anise for example, it would definitely have me re-watching cutscenes and demaning they be put in a living story journal.

And, similarly, turning Braham into a Mr. T type would be even more interesting.

They need someone adventurous and nearly crazy (Example: Miles Vorkosigan from Vorkosigan Saga) to be ideal team. As they need sylvari, well, Anti-Trahearne?

Canache can join them and be the “Murdock” of the new Destiny’s Edge A-Team.

No, don’t change Faren. He’s the only one who seems to be, eh, live. Others are like robots, saying the text that everyone expects to hear. Very meager dialogues kill half of fun of quests. Imagine hypothetical situation, when we have to destroy bandit lair.
How we have it:
-I know where their lair is.
-Let’s go and kill them.
-On my way.
No situations when someone accidentally gets information and doesn’t even realize that. We (or at least NPC) can’t say, for example:Faren, you idiot, why didn’t you mention it earlier?
Everything is sidedly and predictable. Looks like we have ultrashort briefings, not dialogues.

Majory could totally spice up the A-team roster. Faren would just end up kittening everything up all the time everytime.

Caithe and Faolain’s story just came off as generic to me, Logan fell in love with Jennah out of… absolutely nowhere (unless mesmer magic, which I suppose isn’t out of the question)… I don’t really mind Eir, Zojja or Rytlock.

I don’t mind Lord Faren becoming a major character. After all, his Brock-like personality (and bisexuality??) makes him miles more interesting than any of the other characters in the story.

I can see the similarity now, but I wish they’d give Zojja more content. Logan’s boring, Caithe is meh, Rytlock is ok I guess, Eir is boring, but Zojja …. she just oozes personality.

So far he’s the token asura with a magical device that explains away some mechanical representation of the traditional MMO quest system. Vorpp is just the new Levii, Tassi etc. His only contribution so far has been as a plot device. First to praise the engineering of the Watchwork Knights, then to retcon Scarlet into the world with some nonsense about being a prodigy and finally to provide the token device. I’m not against him returning later as a fully fleshed out character, but they’ve got to stop treating the asuran race like a plot device.

With Destiny’s Edge there was a story purpose. Part of their purpose was to represent the major theme of the story – a hero from each playable race that allows the story to show the world that the races working together can achieve what they couldn’t by working on their own. Part of this was also to introduce the players to each race, most of them have straight up stereotypes as their identities so Destiny’s Edge was able to capture those and help explore a little what each race was like.

You can argue now that players have a feel for the world, there is no need to intentionally have a racially diverse “DE” and in many ways this puts less restrictions on the story (they can use whatever characters they want to if they best tell the story, no need to fit in one of each race just to accommodate the diversity idea). This might be why we have so many humans in the story (Kiel, Faren, Marjory, Kasmeer – to a lesser extent Logan, Anise and Jennah) and no sylvari protagonists (if you discount the token asura, no asuran protagonists either) as of yet.

Hopefully there will be something in Scarlet’s past which brings a sylvari hero into the story. The asuran colleges and exploring Scarlet’s past gives lots of opportunity to take the story to Maguuma and possibly mix in both the sylvari and the asura. Maybe the Super Adventure Box update next month will tie into the Living Story plot.

I like most of the Living Story protagonists so far. Kasmeer, Marjory, Faren, Rox, Braham, even Logan. I’m tired of Anise and Jennah so I’m glad they are both restricted to storys involving the Queen. Kiel can be buried behind paper work at her new desk job and the story would be all the better for it. If we ever get an expansion (or what takes the place of an expansion) I would prefer that Destiny’s Edge return or we work with a more content specific group of heros. The current protagonists all feel like side story characters to me. Destiny’s Edge represented the best of the best. Having them as my allies made me feel like I was important in the world. I don’t get the same sense when I am doing things with Kiel or even Rox and Braham. In many ways it feels like a demotion (from fighting alongside Rytlock and Eir to fighting alongside his underling and her son respectively).

Of course Nilkemia. Introducing plot relavent thing (Destiny’s Edge members tolerating one another again) and not visiting it ever again is what GW2 is all about.

We can’t have completion to plots. Only lots and lots of beginnings (like the Karka invasion).

Charr -Rox – possible leader
Norn – Braham – all brawn no brains
Sylvari – Canach – Once he settles down a bit, his heart is in the right place though.
Human – Faren – needs to step it up a bit, but could possibly finance the entire team.
Asura – Vorpp – all brains no brawn.

I think this chapter is to also introduce us to Vorpp.

I’d like to see a non-stereotypical Asura. Maybe someone who values brawn more than brains, thus is kind of an outcast in Asuran society as he holds little value for their magitech. Maybe someone who is a lot more compassionate yet flawed than your average Asuran.
