We need to group now to get credit?
Nothing changed, people just want to party up so they can off load the work onto you.
You don’t need to group, you just need to throw around a lot of big AoE or make sure to attack the champs over the normal/vets. I have 80 bag slots and go into these with 76 of those free, and I usually fill my bags by the end of an invasion and that’s after deleting any random trash I pick up. Solo.
I’ve never grouped for the Invasion events, and I have no problem getting kill credit.

I usually do (AOE), unless the group seems weak. Although me throwing an AOE should only make me popular, not them. I usually pull my staff on my Guardian and off heal and buff. The default staff attack is a frontal AOE if I recall correctly.
Okay wanted to make sure about credit etc.
Wasn’t one of the big selling points of GW2 the fact that we could show up to an event and partake then split? There was no need to be grouped. Last night and today I’m hearing “If you are not in a group you probably won’t get proper credit..”
O.o did this change with the update?
There are advantages to grouping. One is that if you DC you can get back into your overflow and still finish the invasion. (right click on group member and choose join them). Also, it helps with getting credit for killing things.

Almost all of the last fights (they can check the logs) produced little to no loot for me as an elementalist who does conditions, heals, rez’es others and tries to produce some DPS to get ANY loot.
You aren’t the only one… Even when one is in a group, that doesn’t guarantee better loot but it sure doesn’t hurt if you can hit one instead of many when IN that group.
Targeting seems to be a serious issue in these events – and we end up not hitting a single target “enough” to get a good or great find…
So not balanced and WAY not fair when warriors and guardians (and other huge damage builds) are cleaning up bigtime.
Thanks Anet.

…And I imagine you aren’t a “support” build either.
Your damage is probably one of those who is outdoing the rest of us so that we get little to nothing in comparison.
Yep, it’s fair from some points of view…
Farming events and such has always been more profitable in a group, because it makes tagging more mobs easier. But this event, like all others, can still be done without joining a party. You’ll just get slightly less loot, probably.
Scarlet might be the biggest issue, though now that she has more health it’s much easier for more people to get in and tag her regardless. But having 5 people all tagging her together could make a difference if you’re having trouble there for some reason.

If you are running a support build, you are BUILT TO GROUP, and should expect to have to do so to get maximum utility.
If you want to farm solo, you need the proper implements. In dense pack events like Pen-shelt my guardian is the king of tapping and radiate HPS to anyone and everyone around me while I do it. FOr the slightly looser spawns of the invasins, I favor my ranger – axe/axe because Axe #1 taps mobs like nobody’s business, then swap to shortbow for laying hard single target DPS on any champ I’m not sure I have tapped yet.
And I’m raking in the champ loot bags running solo and still rezing everyone around me as a high priority behavior. It doesn’t take that many hits to earn kill credit.
I wonder what your basis for comparison is…”

I think I’ll go out on my thief and throw dagger storm in every mob lol

I’ve been running a defensive toughness/heal/leech necro, with some crit (30%) just for more leech procs. Further, I was using level 35 daggers all day, while my necro leveled from 50 to 60, I was just leveling so fast and couldn’t be bothered to upgrade. I still had no problem getting kill credit on everything I touched, assuming I wasn’t 5+ levels under it.
The system is extremely forgiving and there’s really no way you can build a character that would lock you from getting decent loot that couldn’t be solved with a few simple skill swaps.
