I’m totally dissapointed about lack of story in last updates. There’s so many good theories on lore and what’s coming next on forums and gw2guru and yet they fail to come even close. This update got me excited 1% of the excitement I get from reading on lore/story theories or watching woodenpotatoes videos on youtube.

It’s a shame…

Everyone should know by now anet is no good at presenting a story.

Final Fantasy for story, GuildWars 2 for kick kitten action packed action with more of an emphasis on fun and less grind, grind, grind, grind.

Since when did this business of being a hero become being a business?

Makes me wish they took some pointers from a Youtuber named WoodenPotatoes. The guy has some amazing lore theories for GW2. Really great stuff.

What? GW: Prophecies had a good story, albeit it made your character look like kind of a moron.

GW: Factions also had a pretty good story imo, and I even thought it was slightly better than GW: Prophecies.

Screw GW: Nightfall though, that story campaign was the worst. Obligatory link

They’d still mess it up because concepts are not the problem, it’s when they try to implement and tell the story. That is where it falls flat.

They can’t create characters; they can’t weave a narrative.

Totally agree. Gw prophecies and factions had pretty good stories. I don’t know why they didn’t build more on those stories…. :/

Spoilers

I had a good chuckle over the closing ceremony. So after this major festival, there are maybe 10 people in that whole area watching the Queen’s speech. What? Then we have Queen Jenna and Lord Faren and no one else there? Oh but of course we find out that it was all a ruse and it wasn’t really Jenna……

I admit I wasn’t looking for good story, but if you aren’t even going to try, just skip the story and get right to the events. Or give me an option to skip it.

Love this game, love the devs, story is comedy relief.

That’s the problem, the first game lore was just AWESOME that deserved a movie(Trilogy),Flameseeker Prophecies, War on Kryta , the Shining Blade, White Mantle, even the events/daylies after Eye of the North looked better at being LS than the way that LS works(mechanically) on gw2.

1st April joke, when gw2 receives a “balance” update.

Anet should hire a continuity manager. Plain and simple. That would allow a coherent and linear Living World experience. As an ex pencil and paper gamer that started in the 70’s, that is what I enjoy. Game direction is one thing, making it gel with previous and future tangents in the story line is a completely different thing. Continuity.

Huh, I thought Factions was a boring depressing expansion yet I loved the environment and the idea of Nightfall.
(shrugs) Though I do agree GW2 needs some sort of “Lore” tab in-game to bring people up to speed or something.

Elona, Land of the Golden Sun….and undead…and poison. The travel brochure lied okay?!

It could be because I pushed like 8 characters through Nightfall in order to do DoA (two accounts), but I just hated all the missions. I simply didn’t like a single Nightfall mission, except for Gate of Madness (somewhat).

That’s okay, the main Factions city (I don’t care to remember how its spelled) bored and depressed me away from completing that storyline.
