So i just read https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/short-story-what-scarlet-saw/ and have no clue why Scarlet attack humanity, and more – directly Queen.

Why not Sylvari? She refuse stay with tree and refuse fall to Nightmare. Pale tree call Scarlet dangerous but did nothing, more – sylvari don’t even have small place in current living story.

Shouldn’t Scralet deal first with Pale Tree and Nightmare? I feel missing plot here

So. Now we know, that she has a reason to do what she was doing.

Overall. What did she achive? She showed norn, charr, humans and asura that they all vulnerable. Norn and char – flame and frost. Humans – today event. Asura – by her techno achivements and threat of what inquest may accomplish with right alliance.

She didnt hurt any race to much, just provoked them. So what would be result? All 5 races would grow stronger and would eventually unite together against common enemy. (Sylvari allways wanted this, so she even works in favor of pale tree). Yes. Its already happened with pact, but there still was some elements against pact. So well…there would be even less enemys of such. Also, she brought to light the problems, that every race has to face. Fire legion, Dredge, Inquest and pirates. United them and made them a serious enough threat. Now they have to be dealt with.

What it looks like? Like she is preparing the tyria for a great stand against some big attack.

I believe, she never wanted to kill the queen. She just wanted to show humans, how vulnerable they are, since enemy can appear from nowhere and attack queen. Today she failed. What would be next day?

Ah…and also. Motives. Why is she doing this, if she wanted to oppose pale tree?

She already said it in story. She wants both forces to clash. And when both forces busy with each other, she would be able to change the world. But for this to work, both forces should be on even ground, so it wouldn’t turn into onesided roflstomp.

Guess, Great Enemy has upper hand right now, and Scarlet wants to change it.

You know, this whole thing about “grand designs of the universe” and the odd behavior of not attacking the Pale Tree+ your idea of Scarlet’s motives totally reminds me of the Reapers in Mass Effect 3.
