It’s reasonable enough that the Molten Alliance would be inspired by some well-placed tips from Scarlet, but would they really follow her as leader?

Both the dredge and the Flame Legion have a similar view of females—they believe that males are the natural masters. In their own societies, having a female lead anything besides the kitchen brigade would be unthinkable. It seems unusual to me that a culture of males accustomed to having their females for slaves would obey Scarlet and move their forces as she directs. Especially after the Molten Alliance was beaten so badly before.

Plus, there are a significant amount of charr in the Aetherblades. The Aetherblade charr would probably have very negative feelings toward the Flame charr, and the Aetherblades in general would probably scorn the religious zealotry in the Flame side of the Molten Alliance. As for the dredge, they hate everybody.

Seems to me like it would be very hard to get these groups to obey orders, much less work together for a long period without beating each other’s brains in. What could Scarlet have offered them that was good enough to make them overlook everything else?

Well, the main reason I can think of for the gender biases is simply this; Scarlet isn’t the REAL boss. She’s an underling controlling underlings.

Secondly, these groups banding together may not be mutual, but forced. It’s been referenced in the events in the case of the Aetherblades she says “Have you met my Aetherblades? They work for me. Because they like living.”

So, its not so much they WANT to help her, it seems like they are more likely forced into that. Something or someone is powerful enough to cause these disputes to be set aside, regardless of personal preferences or ideals.

Duty is heavier than death.
