Guild Wars 2

I’m trying to get the vehicle from the Dredge.
I’m suppose to fire mortars at the Dredge defenses.
One problem – the mortars are hitting way yonder too far away – the only thing I’ve been able to assault are a couple of does that keep wondering into the area.

Just wondering, is this quest bugged or am I totally missing how to use the thing.
(I can turn right and left – but if I remember my physics correctly – the thing needs to be aimed more toward the ground and I can’t figure out how to do that. And my ‘drinking’ buddy is of no help in this area.)

You hold down the fire button to adjust it’s range. The longer you hold it down, the further it will go. Pressing it once will fire it at it’s closest range.
