[BUG] The Battle of Fort Trinity
Are you leaving the area before the scene finishes? When it’s over, there’s a cutscene that triggers, but only if you’re in the area by Trahearne.
No I am not leaving the area. All the times I have done it tonight I have been in range of the NPC’s. I try to speak to Traherne and he gives me no dialogue, the story does no progress, and the green star disappears from over his head, just like before it was fixed. I am always close enough to be able to start a dialogue.
Do you remember if you did “Forging the Pact” multiplayer?
Yes, I did it with one other person.

This very same thing happened to me as well. I did it with one other person. She then went on to complete the Battle of Ft. Trinity.

I did forging the pact solo, but the NPCs around Trahearne reference events I did not experience (getting the Krait Orb), I did the volcanic rescue and the traitor mesmer.
The initial conversation triggers without a hitch, and the event appears to run smoothly, right up to the point where the Ghost ship attacks the harbour of the Fort.
The shore based cannons won’t harm the ships (and I can’t man them either), and no enemies spawn after the initial wave is defeated.
I can swim out to the ship and kill it by hand with my Trident, which takes forever, but nothing triggers when I do. So I assume that’s not the way to do it.
After that, it’s just loads of friendly NPCs walking around and nothing happening.
The objective “defend the harbour” stays up and doesn’t complete.
This quest is a disaster and extremely frustrating the first time I ran it I experienced same bug as the OP, second time it bugged a little further down the line, last time I ran it i got all the way to the part after placing the water orb on the mounting and it asks you to “take back the docks” when I enter the docks there are thousands, and I am not exaggerating , thousands of mobs, waves of risen knights keep spawning some of them are greyed out and unnattackable but can still damage me, the NPC’s are quickly overhwhelmed and you are left to try and fight thousands of mobs which is completely not possible as they are spawning faster than you can kill them, utter disaster of a quest preventing me from finishing personal story, this just isn’t really acceptable I’ve seen this quest reported on countless threads adating back to 1 day after headstart launch and it is still completely broken.
It says I reported to this green NPC. But nothing happens after that …This Fort is so quiet and peaceful..just Nothing HAPPENING>>>>>> WHY!~~~
Some people said even some monsters..but not to me..I can’t see monsters.
Please fix this bug..I want to progress further.. Pleaseeeeeeeeeeee…
I’m currently stuck on -Defend the Fort Trinity docks- as well. Very frustrating seeing that I wanted to finish my story along with level cap. I swam out and blew up the boat myself and nothing happened. Oh well, guess I’ll finish my personal story after I hit level 80….
Having the same problem as Relica. Completed all my personal story missions by myself.
Does anyone know if this Forging the pact fix they are putting in tonight will fix the problem we are having with this quest? It seems that it has been broken for 2 weeks and still no fix. Really haven’t been upset with most of the bugs in this game. But this one is making me a bit irritable since I would like to finish it.
We haven’t been able to reproduce it, so I doubt it.

I’ve had this issue since at least 9/12, the 9/14 update didn’t change a thing. I’ve reported it in-game, in a support ticket and still nothing has changed.
The quest right before it, the Krait orb one with Apatia, I had to do it twice because the first time, I did it with a friend (they were the instance host) and I did not get credit for it nor did I see any of the cutscenes during.
My friend and I have done ALMOST every single personal story quest together, taking turns being the instance host.
I re-did the quest solo a second time and everything went peachy keen.
Then I get this crap… My friend has already played through the quest just fine on the first try. We’ve made all the same choices, including the character creation questions with the exception of what god blessed us.
I start the quest, walk past the lady telling me Traehearne is looking for me, past the Dolyak guy, then i listen to the two researchers and Traehearne talking about the orb and asura gates, as soon as they finish talking…. nothing happens. I’ve tried starting the dialog then walking away and coming back, I’ve tried it standing stock still on the ramp leading to Traehearne, I’ve tried walking past the three of them and standing on the opposite side, I’ve tried standing IN Traehearne……. Nothing.
I must say, it’s incredibly frustrating.

When you asked me days ago if I did forging the pact multiplayer, does that mean that you folks went back and did that quest multiplayer to see if you could re-create my problem? If that is the case, I’m assuming that you didn’t have the same problem that I did? It’s strange that so many of us would have this problem, and it not crop up anywhere else. When you guys look to re-create bugs .. do you use the live servers that we play on, or others that you use to internally test?

I have the same problem. Traehearne is talking with the other NPCs and it says I need to talk with him but I can’t. I stand right next to him and once he finishes, I get a ‘check’ saying I talked with him and nothing happens. No cut scene and no bad guys rushing the docks.
We’re having an extremely difficult time trying to reproduce this, but we are looking into it. I don’t have an ETA for a fix since I don’t know what the problem is.
For what it’s worth, I also ran into this problem on the Fort Ashenwood server. I wonder of the people who are having problems, are you doing this solo or with a friend?
So after trying this a lot of times and it never working even after the latest update. I had someone else in the same area who was on this same quest do it with me but I had them start it. It worked fine, no problems. Hope that helps someone.
Ok, two updates now and I’m still unable to so much as start this quest. I’m not one for hand outs, but at this point, can we just get our rewards and get pushed past this quest? It’s absurd at this point and extremely frustrating. Normally I love quests like this, but I’d like to catch up to others and play the rest of my quests. Should we take this issue to customer service? Is there anything ANYONE can do?

I’m still stuck at The Battle of Fort Trinity quest, the quest asked me to report to Trahearne, however after I listened to them talking I tried talking to Trehearne but nothing happened afterwards. I even tried to change world and take the same quest but still bugged. Please fix this. It hinders my personal story line as well as my map completion.

I’m having the same problem. I’ve been stuck on The Battle of Fort Trinity for days. The quest asks me to report to Traeherne but he has nothing to say to me but “X Understood.” I’ve tried going in alone and with others. The cutscene does not play, the battle does not start.
I was doing all of my story quests with a partner. He had the bug where it skipped a few steps in his story line at level 40 and then mine is just stuck at the Fort. Can’t you just reset us back to the last story or something to try it again? I’d rather restart my entire story line than be stuck here indefinitely. Thank you.

Same issue as others in the thread. Had done personal stories solo since The Pact, since that was the last story I was about to do cooperatively. Now at The Battle, I can no longer even progress. At this point, I’d be fine with an entire story wipe to start over.
The part with the ship bugged out when I did it as well, it turns out there is occasionally, and I only know this due to camera clipping and names showing up through walls, that a mob will end up underneath the ground. I managed to use an ability and hit him and he came out of the ground got swarmed by npcs and killed and then the mission progressed without a hitch. If you destroy the ghost ship and quest doesn’t continue, look underground for a bugged undead.

Same here, Traehearne is talking with the other NPCs and it says I need to talk with him but I can’t. I stand right next to him and once he finishes, I get a ‘check’ saying I talked with him and nothing happens. No cut scene or anything else. I tried today to join with someone on the server who got the quest but i don’t get any request to enter, and he was solo in the personnal story, mine still bugged.

There are multiple discussions going on in this thread, but I have a question for those that are stuck right at the beginning: which quests did you do right before this? Specically, which “greatest fear” was picked? The isssue appears to be that the game doesn’t know where you are in the story, so it doesn’t know which cutscene to play.
I’m stuck at the beginning like many others. I think I played through the mission where the my greatest fear is picked with a friend (pretty sure it was his instance). I do not recall what fear was picked. I will check and edit my response tonight when I can log in and check – it should listed in the summary in my hero panel right? Should I have been assign the same one as the one my friend picked? I can ask him to check as well – he was able to progress in past this personal story.
The video Konahrik posted shows my exact bug. I was doing the Order of Whispers line with my wife. We splintered off after the Pact for some reason so we decided to play our separate stories. We though it might have had something to do with choices we made at character creation.
I ended up helping the Norn gal in the underwater portion and freeing prisoners from Kraitt. Spoiler: She was kidnapped and my character said she'd come back for her later.
Afterwards, I was sent to The Battle at Fort Trinity where progress has halted.
The quest right before this was recovering the krait orb where Apathia was captured. I did this with a friend and she was leading the instance.

Same thing happened to me and I will state like I did earlier in the thread, Occasionally one of the mobs will not make it up the stairs and instead walk through the wall and get stuck underground, I noticied the mob and it’s location from underwater and fixed it by using a ground aoe above the mobs head, it unbugged the mob from underground and after he was dead the scene progessed. If it happens tryin going underwater right by the dock walls and fidgeting with the camera to see if you have a mob that decided to bug out.
I also did the Krait orb , and Apatia was captured and I said I would come back to get her later. I don’t know what the greatest fear is you are talking about though, I dont remember doing that. I’ve been stuck for well over a week now.
I tried again and this time some enemies spawned on the northern dock after the ship spawned, where it bugged on me earlier. After I took them out the rest of the mission went smooth.
I’ve asked our testing team to run through this story step a few times and send any bugs my way. I’m going to try and clean it up for the 10/1 update.
After forging the pact I did tower down, munition acquisition (stole the explosives from inquest lab) and breaking the bone ship. and get the same issue seen in the youtube video linked above.
Had same starting problem for weeks, after npc talks its a no go.
my story stop at beginning, the quest right before was about recovering the krait orb and free Apathia (quest start with mi PG in a krait jail), i’ve done the quest with a frind but was my personal story.

I did most of the story with my girlfriend, till our storyline split after “Forging the Pact”. (We’re both Sylvari, on Kodash [DE] and in the Durmand Priory.)
She chose “…responsible for the death of an innocent…” as her greatest fear, I’m not sure what I picked… I think we chose the same option but we got a different story after “Forging the Pact”, so maybe I’m wrong and chose something different… :-/
Her story continued with “Tower Down” ? “Munition Acquisition” ? “Breaking the Bone Ship” ? “The Battle of Fort Trinity”.
We completed the 1st and the 3rd together and she could complete “The Battle of Fort Trinity” solo but heard a conversation about an Krait Orb she never found.
My story continued with “Striking Off the Chains” ? “Wet Works” ? “Intercepting the Orb” ? “The Battle of Fort Trinity”.
We completed the 1st together, I completed the 2nd and 3rd solo and tried to complete the cutscene of “The Battle of Fort Trinity” solo but the cutscene never started.

Level: 80 (has been bugged ever since level 70 and I try to do it every single day, for about 2 weeks now)
I am still getting the bug where I cannot get pass this story quest. I go up to Trahearne while he is talking to the two NPC’s, and after the dialouge is done the green star disapears and it does not forward to a cut scene. The quest text in the upper right hand corner actually greys out after the conversation is over and then you hear the “ding” noise.
As for the quests after forging the pact, they are Striking off the chains, Wet Work, and Intercepting the Orb. Apatia was captured during this sequence, perhaps it has something to do with this decision?

I was able to get around the ghost ship part by finding a random risen guy in the ground under the dock. After killing him the next cut scene started and the quest progressed. My problem is that taking back the fort trinity docks, all enemies are neutral and my team got wiped out in seconds. None of my team appear on my map anymore and I cannot revive anyone. I don’t think it is possible to kill as many undead as there are solo when each group is 10 enemies or larger.
There do seem to be large groups of pact, vigil, and priory but they are all just running around in circles in the previous part of the fort.
When I actually kill the neutral enemies, they respawn before I can even get to the next group.
Now I remember what you are talking about with the picking of the greatest fear … although I dont remember which one i picked. Can you tell me what the options were? If I saw them all I might remember which one I did.
I’ll post tomorrow when I’m back at work and can look up the story step names. The fears are failure, suffering, and the death of an innocent.
ok (thanks to wiki :p ) i understood what fears are As i said i’m stucked at the beginning of “Battle of fort Trinity”, I’ve choosen “Fear of forcing someone to suffer” and when i’ve done it i was playing the instance with another player but the instance was referred to my personal storyline .
If can help the other player, when he helped me to complete “Fear of forcing someone to suffer” quest, had already made a different choice, if i remember correctly his choice was “Fear of being dishonored”

Name: Elsa Jade, Human Ranger, 80, Whispers, FtP solo.
I get to clear the docks and the NPCs buy the farm inside 10 seconds and I’m left with an army of undead to clear. Horrendously evil, and the cut scene after it’s clear didn’t trigger.
