Can't have or change my Order?
Not possible to change. You gave your soul to the whispers.
Fear The Crazy [Huns]
Thats crap. Just want the vigil helm and of course theres no similar model anywhere.
If it’s any consolation, your missions will soon all be the same anyway. Just roll an alt and play it as vigil
You can use transmutation stones to get the armor from one character to another. I did it with the order of whispers armor. All you need is a char that is in the order an past a certain point so they can buy it, use a a fine transmutation stone and a white or common item you get from the random armor vendors. Then the piece will be account bound and you can do what ever you want with it.
A bad thing is that each order has got precise bonuses on their armor.
I joined the Whispers too with my guardian because I liked their characters the most, but then i realized that to get a Soldier type armor I should have been in the Vigils.
Priory = arcane prof
Whispers = medium prof
Vigil = heavy prof
It’s not a matter of builds, but in the end it seems they really continued the trinity somehow.
I also had the same experience and ended up regretting those decisions. transmuting the armors is more expensive since it costs me 12 silver transmuting crystals just to place the order armor skins over to my exotic set.
I hope that there is a way to make the basic transmuting stones into transmuting crystals.
So you weren’t paying attention so you messed up, now it’s somebody else’s fault that you can’t get the armor you want? Maybe ya shoulda been paying more attention to the story – just sayin’.
But if you’re shooting to get all your achievements, you’ll need to play a character in the Vigil eventually anyway, so once ya get one there you can do the switcheroo. Gives you a good excuse to play a bit with a different character type.
I’m sorry I stepped outta yer box, don’ worry, if
ya whine enough they’ll put me right back.
That is silly, i joined the Vigil because it was the most straight forward and fastest way to get my story line complete so i can move on
there was no indication that tell you otherwise or that says you wont be able to use certain armor light or heavy.i didnt realise that joining the vigil would restrict my access to either faction armor, im a thief which makes all the vigil gear useless for me… sigh i cbf starting all over again just for armor piece gg nomore GW2 for me unless they make it so you can change orders

Every order has 3 types of armor… light, medium (thief), and heavy too, it’s just that you wanted another one I guess.
I know what’s the root of the problem you have guys. Only 4-5 PCs told you that this choice is permanent, and that’s probably waaays tooo few for you to understand…
Fear The Crazy [Huns]
Heh. On the one hand, this reminds me of the Luxon/Kurzick split in GW1 (in my case, I joined because of the armor…and then learned that certain locations I wanted for map completion were owned by the other faction—and once you’ve joined one enough to continue the story, grinding faction for the other is a pain).
On the other—three points to note:
a) Shoulda done the wiki research on the faction armor styles first,
b) I don’t thing any faction is particularly ‘faster’ than another,
c) If you noticed, you couldn’t access the faction vendors before you joined a faction, either—they flat out tell you they’re for that faction’s members only. (I ran across Vigil HQ while map-clearing before I joined the Priory, so I know)
I just did this personal story choice, and I wanted the Order, but it wasn’t one of the choices open to me. I had to choose one of the other two, the Order guy wouldn’t let me choose him.
What did I do wrong?

It sounds like you’re still on the lead up steps to the final choice. Before choosing a permanent order, you’re given a series of branching story steps to give you a chance of trying out the different orders. Each branch offers a choice between two order missions.
You are correct, Jeffrey — thanks!
