I am so in the tank for Trahearne. I love having this dude on my side.

My character is a Charr; I’m working on the retribution quest, and Trahearne has just been selected to lead the orders against Zhatain. I can’t think of a better choice.

Who is the voice actor? He really delivers.

10/10 you made me rage He’s my number 2 most hated NPC in this game, second only to “Run home and cry to Jennah Logan”.

I believe it is Microsoft Nigel, he had to find new work since Sam fired him for quote “Having no emotion”

For those (read: all of everybody) who have problems with Trahearne’s English robot voice, I highly recommend changing the audio to German. His German language VA is much, much better.

Awe stop picking on him and Logan. I like both of them.

Oh my god, I agree. I HATE Trahearne. Like I just said in the Charr thread, Trahearne seems to be the equivalent of WoW’s Thrall in “Forced Mary Sue key character we’re supposed to all love.”

Being a sylvari I’m especially annoyed at him just yoinking my sword out of my hands when he’s not even “supposed” to be fighting. I’m just, “Yeah, uh, buddy, whose Wyld Hunt is actually FIGHTING Zhaitan again? Yeah. GTFO pls.”

I think he has a TERRIBLE VA too. Norn-level bad. I can’t believe you didn’t stick with Liam for such a major character and just relegated him to generic NPCs. That man’s voice makes me melt like butter. When I heard Mender Serimon I was just “OH GOD YES.” Then…Trahearne.

I hate to dogpile on anyone, but… wow. His lines are stilted to begin with, and his delivery… oog. I mean, he’s Sylvari, so wooden is the perfect descriptor.

To paraprhase, he runs the gamut of emotions from A to B.

I only ask because while I thought his personal performance was fantastic, the lines he was forced to perform were… less than stellar.

So while I love the actor, I think it’s fair to say that I disliked the dialogue, and am less than pleased with the writing.

I despise this character with every fiber of my being. Seriously may as well rename “personal story” to “Trahearne’s extremely boring story” about halfway through.

Let’s see: Why give a scholar with zero experience supreme command of all military action? He should be an advisor at most. Seondly, why does the supreme commander go on all these missions that endanger him greatly? I mean, its not exactly smart to have the supposed most important person constantly at risk is it?

Hate him, hate every single member of Destiny’s Edge (who needs them? Whiney stupid unlikeable prats the lot) really hate how downhill the story goes from Battle For Lion’s Arch (terrible, terrible mission in every way) onwards.

Very upset with the story overall, after being a big fan of all the GW1 storylines. Where were the heroes with personality like Koss or Vekk? All the attempts at tiggering emotional response due to (almost constant to the point of being predicatable and laughable) partner death fell so flat because I didn’t give a kitten about anyone in the story bar a few characters.

The game gives an illusion of being the main character. After doing your level 0-20 quests you are no longer the main character. Helping the order? You are merely a pawn in the order, you aren’t the commander. Killing Zhaitan? Well, funnily enough, here comes this dude (trahearne) which has no experience but somehow manages to own the kitten out of everyone. (all of the qualities of a storybook hero). You are his adviser, a sidekick, a mere tool.

Yes the moment that Trahearne steps in and becomes the lead and you are just “his right hand man” it steals the thunder and premise of you being the hero.

We become the Prominent Lackey for the true hero Trahearne!!!

The point is valid. Storyline arc when this occurs is evident we are not the prime part of the storyline…. We become the lackey….

Baffling… completely and utterly baffling. I don’t mind the other parts of the story and honestly don’t mind the part where you are being groomed. I just didn’t know I was being groomed to be not the hero but rather being a lackey. Everything else while being not super dark or foreboding is fine and understandable. You have to write it for a variety of age levels.

Good work training youngsters to aim for the middle

They’ve put Trahearne in 1st place for the same reason they’ve put Prince Rurik, Master Togo and Kormir in 1st place in the original GW. For Lore and continuity. Let’s say there is a Guild Wars 3. Do you expect them to have some in-game dialog like this : “X years ago, Zaithan has been taken down by a Pact between the 3 orders. They were led by An Unknown Commander and his co-leader, Trahearne.”. It would make much more sens if they’d put Trahearne in 1st place, because the 2nd character can easily be forgotten.
And Edge of Destiny = Aidan, Devona, Cynn, Mhenlo and Eve
