The first time I played through the campaign I remember helping a norn woman finding a krait orb. However the next time I did it, in the part I think that happened, instead I escorted a mortar team then went inside mount maelstrom after killing a bunch of friendly troops. I dont remember this from the first time round so what did I do differently to get this other path?

Also I just got to fort trinity and they are talking about the krait orb as if I found it. It could be that im just forgetful and im getting the order of the story mixed up but I dont think thats the case

There are quite a few places where Traherne asks you to choose a course of action. After Claw Island, you’re consulted after almost every mission.

No worries, you just clicked too fast and missed it, I think.

The actions you described are chosen during your talk with the Pale Tree. There you have to choose what is your greatest fear.

The key lies in the the “A Light in the darkness” mission where the avatar of the pale tree asks your for your greatest fear. This is an important stoy choice but isn’t marked as one. So most people do not relealize that the 7th story arc has 3 diffrent branches.

The 7th plays out very diffrently with the exception of the Battle of Forty Trinity which is done by all player. There the storylines come together. The krait orb and the enemy mesmer are major plot points during these arcs. The krait orb is the one you did first and the enemy mesmer was your second playthrough.
