The following rant contains spoilers on a level 10-18 asura questline. If you care about that sort of thing, then you shouldn’t read it. I guess.

Title sums it up, really. This is, so far, the worst questline I have encountered in the game (and I’ve really liked most of them). Say whatever you want about Trahearne – he hijacks your personal story. This one hijacks your character.

In development, they talked about how hard they were trying to make the player feel that they were their character – and for the most part, they succeeded. Which only makes it worse when this story chain rips you immediately out of that feeling by forcing your character to do something you would never, in a million years do. The NPC driving all these events is an imbecile. He is so obviously a power-hungry, inquesty, incompetent jerk that I lost count of the times I would prefer to say ‘yeah… no’ and walk away. I realize that my character can’t have that option because then there would be no story, but the answer to that it to never put me in a position where I would want to do that. Because being forced to do stupid stuff is just frustrating.

Then there’s also that Zojja acts needlessly unpleasantly in this one. She pretty much yells at the player for doing the same stupid stuff she was doing, and after the PC cleans up his own mess and apologizes… she goes right back to yelling self-righteously, and we’re just supposed to accept that she is right and we are wrong, period. Which is frustrating, considering that I was forced into making all these bad decisions and honestly, when future, evil me says she’s been forcing me into her shadow… I feel like he has a point.

I like the story in this game. But this is atrocious.

I had this exact same issue. Once I spoke to the NPC who Zojja specifically told me not to and realized that would continue the story poorly, I closed out of his dialogue and tried to find the better path. After running around the lab and restarting the mission, it dawned on me that there was no other path. Though that story arc was fine, it just didn’t feel personal at all. It actually made me feel pretty bad being forced to go against what Felicia— err, Zojja specifically told me not to do.

I kinda agree with this one. It would be nice to have more of a choice in what course of action to follow. Maybe say “no” and have the counterpart keep on his own course of action with you now having to try and stop them. It could still end the same way.

It was kind of like watching a horror movie and shouting at the screen, “No! Don’t go into the woods with him, he’s going to kill you!”
