Killing Zhaitan & Orr [Spoilers]
It’s exactly as I expected from an MMO.
It is a personal! story in a Multiplayer! game. Anet has done a very good job to ensure that cooperation and playing together is encouraged and to make sure you can always play with others, they added interesting content to most maps to challenge you to come back.
The consequence however is that every map is frozen in time, meaning that they represent a part of the story-line. e.g. you won’t see a lot of order representives in maps below lvl 30, while in maps of level 60 and bove you meet pact soldiers.
There is only one post-zhaitan map and that is Southsun Cove.
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
I also was a bit beefed by this. I get why they cannot change all of Orr though.
Perhaps it would have been cool to have another area unlock after defeating zhaitan, that is Orr without risen and life brought back to it.
Could be mostly a city like area? Anyway unlikely to happen.
They might could do something like presearing in GW1. But with the ability to go back and help people in the “before Zihaitan died” map.
Wasn’t there a part in the ending saying that even with Zhaitan dead it would take centuries to rid the world of his corruption. Thus explaining why there was no immediate change.
Also Orr use to be even more populated by risen, but in a subsequent i think they put a cute little remark about the risen numbers being thinned out because of his defeat.
It is made quite clear by Arah Explorable mode that the Risen will not just go away because Zhaitan is gone. There are still Risen in there and it does take place after the defeat of Zhaitan.

There was also a mission right before Zhaitan where you rid Orr of it’s corruption at the source. Beautiful, lush plants start growing and everything.

True, but isn’t that locked behind a gate you can’t get through at the moment? It is possible that the source of Orr is cleansed and blooming but has yet to leave the confines. (More likely it isn’t but I’ll keep myself in that delusion.)
Upshot is Orr needs the undead, they have lots of great loot and the GW2 farmers would get in an uproar if they couldn’t show off their prowness cleaving wave after wave of grubs. They are he true heros and deserve their mighty prey.
Should have been in Orr weeks after release. That place was crawling. Makes the one we have now look deserted. I can actually mine in peace and not worry how mich longer till my next stealth skill comes off cool down.
To be fair, just because you kill a leader, that doesn’t mean their followers or minions are not going to remain.
