Q:

I’m just curious as to…
HOW do you expect players to GET TO that “Fixing The Blame” quest, Anet?

Right now I am trying to get to Snowridge Camp, in Frostgorge Sound, but I can’t get there because there are a bunch of lvl 79 & 80 enemies in my way! Am I missing something? A quest at this level (66) should not make you trudge through 80 territory. I thought this game was supposed to be solo-able. This is mind boggling to me.

Right now I’m a Level 76 Engineer, using all the crowd control I can, & I’m still getting defeated just trying to run through to the marked quest. I really would prefer to NOT have to reach max level, as that seems ridiculous to have to do just for this.

Any tips or information that can help me, I would much appreciate it. And if you can give me a good answer for how to do this solo -that does NOT include me having to level to 79 or 80- then I’ll definitely give you the answer tag.
Thanks in advance.

I’d give us a ten for style. An eight for skill. And a two for stealth.

Approach it from the Iron Marches. If memory serves me correct that’s how I got there. That’s a while ago though.

Hope that helps.

Edit: To clarify, I assume you are looking for Ignavus Ridgerunner.

Most likely the green swirrels are confusing you because they are sort of showing the shortest way going somewhere depending on your position, meaning the portals from one zone to another – on the map it will also show the place where you want to end at.

“Whose Charr is this?”- “Ted’s.”
“Who’s Ted?”- “Ted’s dead, baby. Ted’s dead.”

You can also go in through Timberline Falls (A <L60 zone). The run to the story start does skirt by some L68 mobs (don’t try to take the shortcut through the troll cave!) but it’s quite doable at L66.

Just like Rouven, I assume CharrabungaDude is asking for a way to reach the story’s step in Icespear’s Shelf in Fireheart Rise. I am not aware of any way to reach that location from Timberline Falls. Are you sure that you are not mixing up the locations, or am I the one who is missing something?

As an aside, I always found it quite strange that the PC was sent off to such a remote location at this point of the story. I understand that it was maybe the intention to have an “adventure all around the world”, but to me this was more like a nuisance. After all, I was just preparing to bring the fight to Zaithan’s home turf, and now I have to pay a short visit to some random guy at the other end of the world? In the end, this trip felt kind of forced on the player, and resulted in a very strange pacing of the storyline at that point.

Just my 2 cents.

You’re referring to the “Talk to Warmaster Grunn near Gallant’s Folly” part of the quest, while the OP is referring to the “Talk to Ignavus Ridgerunner” part, which happens in the northwest section of Fireheart Rise.

@OP You can get to Fireheart Rise by going from Wayfarer Foothills to Frostgorge Sound to Fireheart Rise (as you currently are) or by going from Plains of Ashford to Iron Marches to Fireheart Rise. Taking this second route should avoid any enemies over level 70.

Doh, you’re right. I was looking at the first step in the story. (Same name, different NPC.) To reach Gallant’s Folly, you can go through the Iron Marches and totally avoid Frostgorge.

Alright, guys. Thank you everyone for the quick & helpful responses. That said, you all made it sound a lot easier than it actually is. WHEN I am said and done my journey through (the large area known as) Fireheart Rise, I will let you know how it went & award the most helpful answer. But thank you once again.

The most rewarding might be if you look at the personal story as a sort of guide through the lands. I tried to think of it like an adventure, your goal might be over there, but the road to it can twist and turn and bring more adventures. So I explored while I was at it, at least with the first characters.
That said, if all you care about is reaching your destination then definitely make sure you get the waypoints first, that way you don’t have to backtrack too far if you were overpowered. And stay away from events you don’t know.
Good luck and have fun!

Just wanted to add that you can go through kitten on a level 66. You just need to be carefull.

To Yak’s Bend you can go pretty straight ahead, avoid foes and use a running boost. After that go to the east wall off the map and then up. Make sure you dont get into the gorge but stay on the top off it. There are still 3-4 enemy’s but they dont one hit you, so with dodging/running you can outdodge them. It is a bit more tense but a lot shorter then running through iron marches and cross fireheart rise.

An engineer probably can make it through Frostgorge to Fireheart Rise, even at level 76. From Wayfarer Foothills entrance, you can go north, skirting to the west of the Grawl groups, and up to the Kodan settlement, then bear east (but stay on the western slope of the dividing mountain in Trionic Lattice) and jump up to the tops of the canyons and stay on the upper level where there are no mobs for quite a ways, and IIRC, you can use Rifle #5 Jump Shot to stay on the upper portions of the canyons and only deal with a few actoduses rather than dodge the gauntlet of imps and elementals and trolls in the canyon floors. Once you get out of the canyon, just go to the Earthshake Waypoint and go south east, and you won’t encounter any more hostile mobs until you reach Fireheart.

ETA: I tried this on my engineer and verified that you can get through the canyons in Frostgorge to the Fireheart entrance without encountering any level 80 mobs.
