The personal story component of the game is currently lacking. I think a lot of why it’s lacking simply revolves around the fact that you aren’t given adequate time to develop a sense of immersion with it or get to know any of the NPCs very well. I believe this is a problem, too, because the purpose of the story is to make you feel a sense of immersion in the world and help anchor you to the setting and the characters, and it currently fails at doing so adequately so you’re left adrift in a world that doesn’t that interesting or fleshed out.

Here’s what I think would help the personal stories a lot -

a.) Make them longer and tougher, like missions in GW1. This includes reviewing and revising the ones currently in the game to enhance them.

b.) Give the NPCs more frequent banter, and add a system that keeps track of those that are allied with you from personal story to personal story. This would include a panel that let you view those allies, read biographies and tidbits about them, and perhaps customize them to some extent. Then, add an interface that allows you to assemble small teams from your current roster of allied NPCs to accompany you in certain types of content, such as when you replay personal stories (see below).

c.) Add the ability to replay the missions at any time from the story interface. Doing this would not let you change your original decision or give you the same reward options, but it would give some reward such as Exp, Karma or RNG treasure.

d.) Add an item to the gem store that lets you totally reset your personal story and replay it, making new decisions.
