The part of the story line called “Liberating Apatia” is impossible now. The Krait champion at the end now summons adds that all knock you off the tower. If you kill them before they do so, they explode = instant death. Please, remove this spell again so I can complete my personal story, I’m sure this was NOT as intended.

This goes for the quest 2 before this one as well, where the veteran does the same but resets. But I managed to do it being a warrior with a ton of stability. Additionally, that boss resetted 90% of the time resulting in a frustrating 15 tries to do the quest. ADDITIONALLY, the final guy I had to free was most of the time gone, he disappeared.

Of course bugs in personal story might not be reported as much because you only do them once, but if there’s anyone doing this part they’ll know what I’m talking about.

I concur. I am trying to do this quest now as a level 78 mesmer and it is impossible. Trahearne etc all died within a minute and now I’m just cannon fodder as krait explode for 8k damage and toss me all around the tower (and often, off of it and into deadly water).

I’ve done this quest before, and I remember it was easy.. a bit long as Trahearne slowwwwwllllllllyyyyyyyy walked along the long walkways, but easy

All right, so I did actually beat this, basically by cheesing it.. I’m not sure if a non-mesmer could do it.

I stood on the tilted beam just off the champ’s platform and summoned high-DPS phantasms until the champ died (pretty quickly, actually). I was nearly dead at the end but it worked

Hm I’ll give that a try (after doing the 10 minute escort – AGAIN), but I’m pretty sure I’ll be knocked off the platform.

I don’t think I killed anything other than the champion, and I don’t think the champion does any knockbacks.

Playing as an engineer this is basically impossible – as the OP says the champion summons krait which either kill you, or you kill them then they explode, killing you. Those krait should not be in a mission or event where you can’t dodge, there’s no fun at all in dying with no chance to avoid it. In theory you can interrupt the summons but the engineer doesn’t have enough interrupts so even if you catch the first one or two the champion summons again during your cooldown. Once you die all your allies are killed at which point there is no point in attempting to restart, leading to a long tedious ten minute ‘walk very slowly along the planks’ section. The pacing is terrible and then you get to a fight which appears impossible to win unless you picked the right class. I’m off to play something else and hope this gets fixed soon.

Tried this a number of times today on my 77 ele, got the champ to about 20% health each time before dying. The worst part is that the allies don’t respawn with you, so your only options when you go down are redoing the entire escort (could he have walked any slower on those platforms BTW?) or doing gradual revives. Both are extremely annoying.

This update really messed up this and striking off the chains. Striking off the chains will actually bug if she gets a single summon as the adds will pull the npc you have to rescue out of the cage. interrupting a veteran wasn’t a problem though. The problem is this champion which has defiance. As a tanky hammer guardian I just don’t have any way to stop that summon more than once, and then she simply has too many adds and they destroy my party. Really frustrating to have to deal with these changes which seem like they weren’t tested at all causing extreme difficulty spikes. I’d be fine with it if it was intended to be a group event, but it’s not.
