I don’t know who balanced this but as a level 58 guardian with appropriate gear, I can’t understand why these little hellbugs are able to overwhelm me CONSTANTLY as my npc allies die away like they’re made of paper.

It’s a solo experience yet the player is so overwhelmed by enemies constantly attacking, I can’t seem to do anything aside from watching my health drop.

Where the hell is the balancing? Not sure if I’m ‘playing wrong’ because I’m doing everything available in my arsenal to combat these things…

Just seems really truly terribly balanced.

I’ve done this one twice, but can’t remember exactly how it goes besides having to fight Destroyers in the Skritt cave. You’ve tried luring and fighting 1 Destroyer at a time?
If you still need help with it and play on EU servers I can team with you to do it.

Just who the hell do you think I am!?

Was this the skritt racial quest series? Yes, that one was freakish. Since you’re hunting tons of destroyer mobs, a constant wave of AoE burning damage field are being spammed throughout the entire area. These AoEs will quickly slaughter the NPCs and the constant zerg waves of destroyers will often cut you off from reaching the NPCs to revive them. This leaves you basically soloing the final destroyer crab champion, which is pretty nuts.

Deacon, it’s not just you. It was a heck of a gear bill for my Thief when I finished, even after stealths to drop aggro and rezzes on NPCs before my next attempt. By the time that I finished, I was really in a bad mood. Another friend tried that quest path and couldn’t even make it to the final boss area. In his case, a couple of us just joined him on the quest to help him slaughter. Through unbalancing the game mechanics, we were able to help him move forward.

I’d suggest that you get a person or two to help you out. Ask in Lion’s Arch and you’ll likely find a sympathetic player or two. Just make sure that the people joining you didn’t take the skritt path when they did their own personal quest series. There are known bugs that will cause story resolution conflicts when other players are present when the game tries to compare your current story decisions with the past decisions of the other players present. (That issue might be fixed by now, but it was there at launch.)

We are Test Group F. (Don’t ask about what happened to the previous Test Groups.)

Milennin.4825, thank you for the offer. I’m actually on Tarnished Coast

Wiser with Age.3714, thank you so much for understanding – it actually makes me feel better knowing I wasn’t the only one suffering with this. I was starting to really dislike GW2 because of this (I did manage to beat it a few tries later, heavily damaged, used a repair canister) and there’s a group of hyenas that ABSOLUTELY destroy me in moments in Gendaran Fields.

All of this made me feel like my armor was a joke and I was feeling really frustrated and fed up with the game.

I think I might just need to step away from the game for a while… it’s starting to feel a bit grindy which is sad because overall, I love the game.

Anyway, thanks for the posts guys.

I’m currently doing it as well and I’m a lvl 42 Engineer. It’s really frustrating that the npc’s die so fast and you can’t revive them without being slaughtered, so I think the best bet for doing the quest will be to grab some help.
