Set to blow (Order of Whispers) too hard
I’m having the same problem. The queen comes in with the destroyers, which is intended (?) according to the cut scene that says she’s coming early.
Playing as ranger. I pulled everything that could be separated and ones that followed me back after dying and were in small groups. Now I’m going to try running back and dying close to the entrance to see if some stay there and can be separated that way. Npcs are all down and same as above re Tybalt.
This really needs to be looked at for absurd difficulty.

The 9/24 update does have some adjustments to this story step. (It wasn’t intended for so many destroyers to be active at once.)
Yay! Super.
I found the trick for the ranger was serially pulling without the pet active. Then tanking the queen with bear pets and staying ranged wasn’t a problem.

I guess we couldn’t get some preemptive patch notes for all the other juiciness.
Thanks man Even though I’m done with it, it’s nice to see the game is in good hands.
LOL. I thought that quest seemed crazy. I don’t remember all of the details, but in the end I somehow pulled the queen away by herself.
Funny I notice this thread. Just last night I was trying this quest on my lvl 46 Human Ranger. I tried 3 times, then gave up and went to bed. The quest lvl is 47, but the boss is lvl 50??? Insane… absolutely insane…. it was just not doable for me

I solo’d this on my mesmer. It was very challenging, but I found it best to kite around until only 1-3 mobs were attacking you, then use the terrain and mob pathing to wear them down.
This is the personal story quest I had the most difficulty with!
The trick for me was to lure each of the trash mobs (destroyers) away from the queen and take them out first. Then, tackle the queen on her own and avoid the red circles (lava or something, I believe) to the greatest extent possible. She doesnt have many ranged attacks otherwise, so kiting seemed best. The ranged attacks she does have seemed pretty easy to avoid.
Also important to note is that even so much as going up the ramps while fighting the queen can cause her to de aggro and start regenerating her health. This can also happen if you stealth, as a thief, and stay stealthed for the full duration (I think I also had the +1 second stealth trait, fwiw). This was the most frustrating part for me. It seemed sporadic though, and not consistent. None of this seemed to be an issue with the destroyers.
Its good this quest was adjusted, I am very happy to hear that!

NEVER FORGET
Funny, I just did this one last night too. Died only once, but I tried what others did, kite away the destroyers in packs, then blinded to reset the queen. When it came time for the queen, I just kited, evaded and dropped caltrops like a madman.
I agree that one was insane! I barely made it through. I just kept hitting and running. That’s about all you could do or you’d be swarmed over with Destroyers.
No wonder it was so hard! I’m glad you guys are going to be fixing it. =)
