Tybalt is the greatest
I think they should have made a ‘heroic last stand’ dialogue so that as you stand by the gate you hear him go down fighting. Similar to Hicks’ death in Aliens…
“Oh you want some a-this do ya? You too? Come get some, I got enough for all of ya…. AIEEEEEE” sort of thing.
Would have made a good moment great.
Tybalt was definitely the best mentor. I was also pretty down when he died. Can’t say I felt the same for any of the other mentors.
I LOVED Tybalt. The mission where we went to rescue Demmi Beetlestone from the pirates was probably the best one I’ve played yet, for both the lawls and the realization that there was more to my mentor than my initial impression gave him credit for. I also liked how he came across not so much as a mentor, but as a good buddy and resourceful partner in crime, and I wish I could’ve been on more missions with him.
Avenge Tybalt! Not just by whipping Zhaitan. https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/events/Defeat-the-Ministry-Guards-event
2nd post, in the screen shot you can see the chat directed at the player by a Commander saying, “We’re sending you to shake hands with Tybalt!” A special Event named: “Kill the Risen commander to avenge Tybalt”
Tybalt was spectacular! And one of the only NPCs I actually liked.
Please Gods, take Trahearne and give us back Tybalt!
Was Tybalt’s ‘closing’ statement at Claw bugged (the one with the doors closing)? I only heard two short lines, as opposed to the long background that Forgal gave out…
If anyone has a video link to it, I’d be interested.
I like to view MMOs through the lazy eye of a Systems Admin, and the critical eye of a
Project Manager. You’ve been warned. ;-)
I prefer Elli
Not only did we lose Tybalt, we got that annoying treebeard guy as a replacement.
Tybalt is the reason I love Charr so much. In my opinion he was the best written character in the game.
Personally I would love if Anet did a small little quest after beating Zhaitan where you do something to honour your mentor’s memory. Doesnt need to be huge just something out of respect.
I guess Tybalt is okay. I’m a little racist though, as I find all Charr ugly and dumb.

ahahahaa lol char racist
(anyway in real life, whatever good other race will do, we always condemn and put prejudice on their actions)
We never really saw Tybalt die. I’m hoping we discover later that he’s still alive.
Have you guys read the new official blog post about the living story?!
“In order to make this easier on ourselves, and on you, we’ll be introducing a set of characters specific to the Living Story, at the end of March. Hint: one’s a norn, and one’s a charr. I’m not going to tell you more than that right now, but know that you will soon be meeting the first two of these characters, and we hope you like them as much as we do.”
IT’S TOTALLY TYBALT COMING BACK FROM THE DEAD!!
Okay. Probably not. But we can have our wishful thinking. ;P

Many thanks to Wooden Potatoes for his outstanding lore video, a real tribute to Cantha.
I like Tybalt but there is no reason for him to have been out in the field at all. He would have been far more suited as someone who mentored you but wasn’t your field operative mentor.

hehehe, hope it too
/me crosses paws
I must say I was really taken aback when you learn more about Tybalt’s past. He was a lovely character to begin with and a joy to be around, but the material they gave him was pretty dark and real (cultural ostracization, depression, physical disfigurement). It was a lot more tasteful and handled with a much better temper than some of Bioware’s efforts, like Jack or Miranda.
Apples..appppplleess!
I enjoyed the lady from the Priory story also. My two favorites.

At the risk of derailing? Look up the SF Debris reviews of Mass Effect 2’s story. There’s a lot of thought on those two characters and peeling back more about them.
I love Tybalt too! I joined Order of Whispers on my second play-through of the personal story, so at this point I knew the story arcs drill and was expecting another contrived mannequin that I was gonna have to lug around for the next couple sets of quests, but he was actually really charming!
Spoilered for Tybalt’s story, just in case:
I was having so much fun with Tybalt, I was actually immersed in the quests and forgot about what I knew was coming up at the end of the Orders Arc. It was only after I started the Claw Island quest and started thinking back to the fights to make sure I had the proper abilities on my bar that it dawned on me. My train of thought was “Ok how did I do this last time… wait a minute… NOOOOOOOOOO!” And when that cutscene played, even though I knew it was coming, and it was animated in the exact same way as the last time I played it with Whatsherface Plantgirl, it made me really sad
Tybalt was the only NPC I developed an emotional relationship with. Though I guess to be fair, I’ve mostly spent time playing Humans and their story arcs are really trite. The girl from the Priory was trying so hard to be quirky and rambunctious, but I just found her really annoying. I was almost relieved to be rid of her, though Trahearne is a step down no matter where you’re coming from.
Though to be fair, I think part of the reason I grew to like him so much is that the missions we went out on were actually well-plotted out.
The Demmi Beetlestone mission had a well-defined purpose and an evenly-paced arc where each step followed naturally from the last. First we figure out where she is, then we get her out, then we kill some baddies. In contrast, the first Priory arc is: “Hey we just met and this is crazy but I’m going to shanghai you to the other end of the zone from where we’re supposed to go!” -> “Ooh traces of a legendary ancient magic sword that could result in the end of the world!” -> “Ok we got the sword back, end of the world averted!”
I think the Demmi arc also was a better vehicle to showcase characterization because after you rescue her, she and Tybalt exchange dialogue as you play through the rest of the mission, which helps to give you insight into their personalities in a very natural, organic way. I didn’t rescue anyone with Plantgirl, so the only way for her to show any personality was to talk AT me, with no way for me to respond to her.
I also chose to do the hylek quests in the second half with Tybalt, which were also more interesting and better-written than the quaggan quests that I chose to do with Plantgirl, so it’s possible that Tybalt had a bit of an unfair advantage over the other NPCs.
From time to time I am getting quests in the game world to avenge Tybalt (how awesome is that?). I think I don’t have to explain why I go out of my way to complete those EVERY time, even if I was merely running through the area.
Tybalt, old buddy: I pray every night to the Six Gods that you got out of Claw Island somehow.
Tybalt was always awesome in my books, right from that first letter where he’s like “Get rid of this letter… eat it or something, I dunno.” Playing my Necromancer, after the cutscene where the doors shut on Claw Island behind him, I spent ten minutes screaming “VESTRAE VITAE MORTIS DEAE!” [Your lives for the death goddess!] at my monitor while throwing wells and marks into the undead horde with reckless abandon.
I miss Tybalt :’(
yes I know, necro post..but this picture makes me more emotional than a picture should
