Talking about the orders...

…on a unrelated thread, I choose to share some thoughts about them.

a) We should have the option of no joining any order. My char is a loner, so why must I choose a group? Every citizen in Tyria belongs to one of the orders? Even Trahearne, the not-so-chosen-one, doesn’t belong to one of the orders! Why should I?

b) The order we choose should be more representative on our char lives. So far, belonging to an order only gives us an armor, and it isn’t a top armor, and we have to pay a lot of gold for it. We should get some other benefits: more equipment, services, better prices in some things, the posibility of representing our orders in some activities, order vs order competitions, private entrance to some dungeons or fractals or some other instanced-, order-related map, and so on.

c) So inconsequential is the order to the chars, that we don’t have any way to know which order we belongs to… Shouldn’t it at least appear on our Hero screen? Many of my guildmates didn’t even remember their order!

Absolutely. Plot-Wise it doesn’t even make sense to join an Order. Instead, we should have “interned” with the Order of our choice, & then met our Mentor. This would have opened the door for us to become Military Commander of the Pact, instead of Trahearne.
