So I just did the level 50 Personal Story Quest as a human in the Order of Whispers, and was anyone else super upset when Tybalt died? He was definately one of the best video game companions I’ve ever met. He actually felt like my buddy, and when they killed him off it really kinda sucked…
And then after when he just seems to be forgotten, no memorial or anything. The PC barely seems upset about it.
Really hoping Anet reconsiders killing him off somehow. Perhaps he was actually the Master who needed to fake his death or something.

I really liked Tybalt. He was by far one of my most favorite characters. He seemed real .. had problems and short-comings as well as a funny side. Whoever wrote Tybalt’s dialogue did a great job. So I was really sorry to see him “eliminated.” My character didn’t even seem that upset about it. Anyway, I add my moment of silence.
Tybalt was by far the best character. After that you get that broccoli stick Trahearne who should be inspirational and all that, but he just isnt. A flat character who cant replace any of the mentors. Tybalt was awesome.

Yup! I wish my character had gone back to see the fate of his friend (Both Seiran and Tybalt), or at least created a grave, funeral or memorial for this character in their home instance. It would have been a nice gesture! I usually ignore the lack of emotions in our main characters and pretend they have feelings, but this was one time where it stood out. The mentors were by far the best characters in the whole story.
While its appreciated that you attempted to notify of [Spoilers] in your thread title, the title itself “A Moment of Silence” really kind of spoils that major plot point anyway. Having not reached that point of the story myself, I am mildly upset (as upset as one should reasonably get over a video game, not nerd raging) that just looking at the forum title has ruined the experience.
Perhaps you would consider renaming the thread to something less revealing.

I think I might be a little more attached to Trahearne after interacting with him through the Sylvari opening storyline (not sure if he’s there for all Sylvari or not). The issue there, though, is that the story/Trahearne himself doesn’t seem to acknowledge that happened at all (aside from the first line, where he greets you with a line like “Valiant! It’s been too long.” Then Tybalt proceeds to introduce you two as though you don’t know eachother). :\
But yeah, Tybalt ;m; That was a suckerpunch to the feels, but I saw it coming. The hints/foreshadowing that gets dropped left and right with his insecurities and perceived shortcomings set off all my “this character is going to sacrifice himself” alarm bells. Still sucks, though. I also really, REALLY hope he doesn’t return as an undead—not sure if ANet is the type (or if the lore supports it).
I would have been sad, because he was one of the few decent characters in this entire game, but the way he went out was so blatantly stupid I actually started laughing at how bad the plot line was rather than feel remorse at his loss.
It would have been better if we got to fight his reanimated corpse, then I could at least have gotten the satisfaction of ending him myself. I found Forgal much more realistic as a mentor figure, though it seems the comedy act will always be more popular.

Tybalt wasn’t so much a mentor as a friend, though. He never really mentored—if anything, I sort of felt it was the other way around. Your character gives Tybalt focus, gives him purpose, gives him a chance to prove himself—but more than that, a reason to want to.
It was sort of jarring after the actual mentoring going on with Caithe and Trahearne in the Sylvari storyline, now that I think about it. But also interesting to have that sort of backwards responsibility thrust on your character, too.
