I am a level 16 warrior, just bought all new armor and weapons and this guy defeats me every time! I have tried: swords, hammer, axes etc… nothing works.
Have you tried kiting him with a rifle or a long bow? I haven’t done this quest yet, but as a warrior, a lot of opponents in the Personal Story can’t be meleed, or meleed exclusively.
I will give the longbow a try, the rifle didn’t seen to damage him much.
This is one story line quest that I am glad is over and hope I never have to do it again.
I am a level 16 Warrior and they ruined my armor twice, costing me over 2 silver to fix each time. I cant imagine a caster doing this, unless he/she is a necro with minions, because without help, this is alot more difficult that it should be. Here is what was left of my armor the second try.
Well, it’s may take time, but it’s more about keeping him from getting to you, while you gradually chip away at his health. Are you kiting backwards so the auto attack hits him? And if you try longbow, it takes a sec or two for the AE to hit, so I like to target the AE on myself, and since I’m constantly moving, the enemy will often follow right onto the spot as the AE hits if done right.
You have it right Taurethion, I ran in circles while using every trick at my disposal to whittle his health down. During the final guy, I went down while his health was quite low, and thanks to being a warrior, I came back for vengeance and beat him!
Yay, good for you! This is a strategy that is useful in many of the Personal Story quests when soloing I’ve found. My human warrior in the Vigil ended up running in circles more than half the time. In the questline beyond, that playstyle is less effective, but the long bow is still useful for pulling, damaging before the enemy gets close, and AEs for groups. (I don’t know how to do the spoiler thing, so not going to go into detail.)
I find this one is just excessively hard and impossible for melee style fighters. Went in as a 15 warrior, came back at 19 with improved gear just to test it, and it’s even harder. Now not only are most of my blows being blocked, every other time I try to land a blow I get knocked back. If a player could shield/knock-back at that ratio they would have their account suspended for suspected tampering. A lot of times it knocks me against the fence and the announcer yells at me, which causes that #$&#$& to reset his health but come right back after me.
