This whole needing to unlock the final story mission thing
This is not a single player game. You can play 99.9% of this game without ever teaming with another player. Facing the biggest baddest dragon of the game solo doesnt make sense. I agree that it is a bit of a shock to find yourself in need of a team when you reach that final mission, but I dont think it is entirely without merit.
I am anxiously awaiting my guildmates getting to this point so that we can team together and get it done.
Similarly, equiping a legendary weapon does not make you a legend.
They said that when they designed it you could play solo if you chose. You can’t. They lied.
I agree that it’s not consistent. You can solo the personal story all the way until the very last piece. There could at least be a warning about it. Not everyone is a gamer and quickly understand what they must do.
And this is why I liked heroes in GW1. If I wanted to team with others I could, but if not I had my heroes. Hopefully, there will be plenty of people looking for a group. =)

I personally don’t see any real reason to complain. You can solo every quest up to the very last, which is quite generous of them as it is. I also believe they should have made Story Mode dungeons a requirement along the way, but that is just my opinion.
It’s the big bad. It should require the help of friends to pull it off. Not fake ones, either.
Why should it require friends? Nothing else required friends. Not a darn thing. It is also your PERSONAL story. It is not my friend’s story, it is mine. I was informed that I could complete this entire game by not joining with friends for the entire story line. I can’t do so. They lied. If I had been told up front that the final story mission would need friends I wouldn’t be as upset. That being said, I would still bekitten off that I require others. I don’t know about you, but needing to work around others and the bugs just to unlock my story mission is bad enough. Needing them to then do it is just silliness.
It’s actually Trahearne’s story.
And no, it is not even the slightest deal that the last quest out of around 60 requires some actual effort and communication with others on your part.
it is one mission. It is against a major dragon. I was actually surprised it was a 5 man and not a huge open world event that required a raid sized party
