I have to say, after getting to 80 twice, and completing completely separate stories both times, the character I have a problem with the most, is Trahearne. I find him to be a completely unemotional, dry, humourless, and boring character. His voice acting is poor at best, leaning towards dull.

The only time he solicited the vaguest emotional response from me is when he gives a speech at fort trinity SO bland I thought he was reciting lines from a book, and his advisers said “Well done sir, a truly riveting speech!”

The mere fact his base dialogue for combat is “This won’t end well” plays towards how inept and boring he is. HOWEVER, that is not so say his character is bad.

When the sound is removed from Trahearne, allowing me to mentally dub in my own, I actually like the character. The voice acting is unacceptable, however. When side character Grawl have better voice acting than your protagonist of 40 levels, something went badly wrong in the sound booth.

Well the problem is that he’s supposed to be a calm, cool, collected, level headed sylvari. The spock of Tyria.

This is of course boring, so I think they should have made the main character be someone more prone to emotion. Maybe someone who really, really wants revenge on zhaitan and is gleeful at the thought of killing him. I think the personal story would have been much more interesting if a fat, vengeful, norn necromancer were leading the charge.

Even if it’s not someone who’s eager for revenge against Zhaitan, somebody who actually seems emotionally involved would be great. Kirk was the “action guy” to Spock’s calm intellectual. Maybe that’s supposed to be the PC?

I haven’t really enjoyed the story at all after claw island on any char, it all goes super serious mode and all you fight from there on is the same undeads.
Trahearne adds so much to that giant buzzkill that the entire Orr story just ends up feeling like a chore.

Such a shame though, i absolutely loved the story up until that point. Funny conversations, interesting characters and a wide diveristy in areas/mobs.
Easely the best expirience i’ve had in an MMO for ages, but the whole Trahearne-Orr thing just makes you forget about all that awesomeness and tries to slowly kill your braincells with infinite amounts of boredom.

Hated Trahearne’s VO with a vengeance in the end. I get more emotional responses from my toaster. However, Tybalt Leftpaw (voiced by Mike Vaughn) is fantastic, both in dialogue, humour, and delivery. easily one of the best characters in the game for me.

Trahearne and his VO made me seriously think he may be an Asura golem in disguise…

For what it’s worth, I really love the voice acting from Trahearne. See https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/audio/Love-Trahearne-s-voice-who-does-the-voice/first#post171812

I guess I perceive a quiet intensity where others see dullness?

I really couldn’t stand Trahearne. Not only was the voice acting boring, but he was worthless in combat.

Instead, Anet seems to enjoy killing off the only enjoyable characters…. sniff Apples, anyone?
