OK, what’s the trick?

I know I’m not a very good player, but I’ve gotten to Battle of Claw Island on 3 of my toons (Asura Elementalist, Human Guardian and Sylvari Ranger) so I know I can fight and beat Vets and Champs from prior quests. Yet on my lvl 50 Norn Warrior I don’t even get close to defeating that Vet Devourer. : (

My Warrior is fairly well geared (lvl 45-50 greens and two yellow pieces, everything has runes or sigils) and this thing has killed me well over a dozen times. I’ve tried melee with my hammer and ranged with my rifle. I’ve gotten him down to maybe 75% health with my rifle. Nothing near that with my hammer since he just tosses me all over in melee with no warning.

I do my best to dodge when I see the red circle. When I’m not fast enough he gets me for around 75%-80% of my health in one shot! Even when I do time it right. I can dodge two big rocks. But then I’m dead soon after to the rocks that quickly follow, since my adrenaline is gone and the rocks come too quick together. Then of course when I die, even when I stay in the instance, the devourer goes right back to 100% health. I’ve spent many silver on repairs. I’m so frustrated.

Yup, that did it. I switched to dual axes and stayed close. He went down without a problem. All the way up to and through Claw Island was a breeze too.

However, the mobs in the sewer (and for that matter anywhere underwater) frequently bug out and become invunerable. Even when I’m right next to them. I have to move several times to unbug them.

Too hard quest. I died a lot with a downleveled level 70 elementalist!

How do you beat this final mob!?

I started with my greatsword. It killed me about 6 times before I looked up this thread. Used the tactic listed here. Died about 10 more times. So frustrating.

I’m staying right on the boss. Not being hit by any projectiles. Anytime he performs a knockback, I roll out of the way of the incoming projectile and get right back on him. My problem is that once I get him to about 25%, he runs back to his spawnpoint and regenerates to full health. Eventually he burns down both the npcs with me (the ogre npc you’re escorting dies within about 10 secods of the fight starting so he’s useless anyway).

Anyone know if he is bugged? Resets every SINGLE time I fight him.

(also, I’m a lvl 45 Warrior in a mix of the cultural tier 1 and lvl 40+ quest greens)

Anyone have tips? Upgraded my gear to all rares, am now lvl 48. Still same thing. Get him to about 20% and he runs to his spawnpoint and completely resets the fight.

Yep, this boss is kitten and very bad design. Knockbacks every 5 seconds, wtf really?
But still he was more annoying than danger for my lvl 53 War. I use healing sighned, for the great justice, Sighned of Rage, defence banner, 20/3/20/0/0 traits and axe with mace. Just spam everything and he died. Oh, and i use gladiator rare set with 6-7k HP, but i think it would be same with green set. Probably rampage would work too.

if this is the same boss I’m thinking about, yeah it is pretty stupid. Melee is almost impossible for 2 reasons:
1. you get almost permanently knocked down
2. if you push it against a rock it immediately resets, and in melee you naturally push mobs around

I did it by using a bow and constantly move side by side, dodging when necessary. Stamina signet should help if you are running into endurance issues.

Hey im a lv 47 charr and im struggling so hard with this mission,i cant seem to beat it in anyway do they need to patch to make it easier, i wanna carry to with the story because i really like it but i cant beat this last boss( veteran Branded siege devourer) HELP!!!

I’m now at level 53 in full rares and still cannot get past this boss. I’ve tried everything I can possibly think of. Use buffs prior to pulling, have tried greatsword, hammer, dual axes, dual swords, rifle, longbow. I’ve tried it stacking signets, with warband support, multiple banners, etc.

This is really frustrating, nothing I change seems to help.

As a warrior I switched to a rifle and stayed back, opposite of what was suggested. Just ran side to side and stayed out of the white circles. Never dipped below 80% hp. It made it really easy! I had died probably 15 times prior to trying that and it worked the first time
