Warmaster Forgal Kernsson
The only thing missing is him giving me a call on my codec to tell me all about sneaking around genome soldiers.
Not but really Forgal is awesome, as is Paul Eiding.
huge LOL on the codec reference ^^
I loved Forgal. I loved him a whole bunch.
I hate trahearne for taking his place! Forgal didn’t need to die!
Forgal was by far my favourite character in the game. I loved his gruff but fatherly style of leadership. I really missed his presence once he was gone.
I’m glad there’s a thread giving him some love, because it seems like he often ends up in Tybalt’s shadow on the forum. Forgal deserves lots of praise of his own, though.
Would gladly trade Trahearne for Forgal’s return. Please, ANet?
I would just like to be able to honor him by telling his story like he wanted, honestly. Maybe the chance is somewhere I haven’t looked yet, but it’s kind of emptying that his comfort in death was that his legend would persist and I don’t get to spread it.
Also I’d like that blasted note in Vigil HQ to get fixed.

Stormbluff Isle
Great thing about Forgal for me was at first I was a little unsure about him, but then in true story fashion Forgal grew on me and then I started to love that he was my mentor…..
Then claw island…. and the ultimate failure of the story occurred.
RiP Forgal. You are missed. You left huge huge shoes to be filled and instead we get someone that isn’t even qualified to be your shadow.
at claw island, i thought he was just going to close the door, lock it, then join me in my escape. when he passed through the door and it closed, a part of me died with him.
I loved the guy and all. He was less annoying than Sieran and certainly far less irritating than Trahearne.
However…He had some issues.
He refused to believe that I was battling for my life because I was a ranger using a bow. In the Spider Queen’s den, with the Skritt, I was standing on top of the cliff shooting at the things below me (because, you know, I don’t like things getting too close to me), he just stood there. I had to reign in my pet because every time I shot an arrow, it would go running. Forgal, on the other hand, just stood there like he was saying, “Now that’s some nice shooting, soldier. Let me know when you’re going to fight. I’m just going to nap here in the mean time. What’s that? We’re fighting now? Great. I’m just gonna go get myself wiped about a hundred times.”
I won’t get into his obsession with fighting centaur weapon racks when me and the Seraph (who wear used Kleenex for armor and might as well throw rocks for how effective they are) fight the Centaur Champion. Dead serious. I was dodging, rolling, and shooting for my life…and he was standing off to the side swinging away at that very threatening rack of weapons.
His final speech made up for everything, though. So he’s okay in my books. He was just going a bit senile, so I can’t hold that against him.
Huh. I didn’t find him particularly interesting. I think it was mostly because of the “gruff veteran who initially resents the forced pairing with a newbie protagonist but then takes a bullet for him/her” stereotype. He is a bit bland but nowhere near as bland as Trahernia is.
I found Tybalt to be the most fun of the “guides”. I’m not too familiar with Sieran as I’ve yet to be very far in Priory arc but her enthusiasm seems rather refreshing as well. Maybe it falls flat later on but so far I prefer her over Forgal as well.
Personally I find warmaster Forgal to be a yawnfest. Didnt like him at all. Not his voice, and certainly not his looks, and whats up with his eyes? Either he has some kind of eye condition or he simply never sleeps.

Game over
He’s old, you tend to lose sleep when you’re busy with war and such.
At first, I wasn’t quite sure what to make of him, but by the end, with his final speech, he cemented his place as my favorite mentor
For me it was Tybalt first, Sieran second and Forgal last in order of preference. I tend to like the more wacky characters. Even so, I’d take Forgal over any of the members of DE and certainly over Trahearne. In general they did a good job on the Order mentors.
My only question is WHY they would make such likeable characters only to replace them with Saladhead? And IF they were capable of making the 3 mentors so likeable, why couldn’t Trahearne have been as likeable as the other 3?
I mean, think about it for a moment. Traherne had a lot of wasted potential as a shy scholar character who over time develops into a hardened battler as the player’s strength and valor inspires him to stop cowering behind others, and to join others in the frontline fight against Zhaitan. The Pale Tree, acknowledging his revelation and fascinated with his renewed motivation, trusts him with the legendary Caladblog to purify Orr while you take the battle to Zhaitan’s doorsteps. With the combined forces of your raw strength and Trahearne’s diplomacy, you work together to lead an army, eventually destroying Zhaitan.
Unfortunately, the execution wasn’t as thrilling as it sounds, and the character development of Trahearne felt nonexistent because his traits as a shy scholar felt non-existent.

*His voice could end all wars and cure all cancers. *
I want to personally thank whoever conceived of the indomitable kitten kicker.
