1) Trahearne recruits them in some other scene you never see

2) You meet them and hear that they’re the best blacksmiths in all of Tyria and that’s pretty much it as far as their backstory

3) ??

4) They’re at the celebration in the last story quest

Am I missing something? Is there a quest path I didn’t choose where they’re relevant?

Seeing as how one of them is a Sylvari, the claim ‘best blacksmiths in all of Tyria’ is a big exageration anyway.

If you can read this then it is proof that ArenaNet’s moderators just, kind and fair.

I’d assumed they were recruited to produce weapons and work metal for the Pact.

occam made a suit of armour that made its wearer immortal if they wear the full set.

pretty sure that that’s a feat worthy of being called one of the best blacksmiths

as for occam himself, he’s a fairly major character in the sylvari story “The green knight”
(also, he’s great with short blades, the guy could probably solve anything with a shaving blade)

It’s an excuse to take some time before the messenger runs into camp. And to introduce/reintroduce npcs that have been in various peoples personal stories. Both the norn and the sylvari, at least.

Presumably they go on to singlehandedly produce hundreds of airships and choppers, the mech suit from the Priory version of Orr, and all the weapons and armor of the Pact.

They should have introduced the bankers who pay for all this super tech without the means of generating revenue instead.

I just had to log in to approve of the razor. Exactly my thoughts as he’s introduced in the story.

Well, you don’t really need bankers in total war but you do need the tens of thousands of workers who must be behind mining, smelting, alloying and so on all that metal, making all those shells, tanning square miles of leather, stitching leagues of er… stitches, etc.

Stitching leagues of seams.

Also two things. Asuran weapons which emit beams don’t require ammunition, and the charr powder-fueled weapons seem to enjoy single-piece projectiles rather than cased ammunition. Say, musket balls. So spent ammunition can, presumably, be collected and recycled.

I recall seeing what amounts to a massive smelter set up in the Black Citadel. If that’s any indication of what kind of metal resources the charr can call on in a pinch? I think they got enough to work with.

what he suggests is pretty appropriate too :P

the other plan is to help the person bercilak has a crush on, convincing her to get him to remove his helmet, then kill him whilst he doesn’t have his helmet on.

occam’s suggestion?
“my hammer can break the armour, hit him with it”
