At about the time you start doing the level 50 quests, it feels to me like the story stops being ‘all about you’ and becomes all about Trahearne, with you as the supporting cast. Seriously, he just swoops in and steals the spotlight, and to make it worse, he’s not even a very well written character; he’s a mary sue who has a few moments of doubt prior to the Pact being formed and that’s about it – he suddenly becomes a fearless war commander everyone looks up to despite only ever having been a scholar.

His droning, monotonous voice doesn’t help, either. Does anyone feel the same way? I just feel like Trahearne should’ve been a major character sooner, from the start of the Order quests or something, and his transition into being the leader of the Pact should’ve been handled better. Even as a Sylvari who meets Trahearne early on it feels jarring, and it doesn’t help that prior to him going full mary sue a great character is killed off on Claw Island.

I feel like it would have all been redeemed if he had to kill himself after defeating the big eye.

I feel like it would have all been redeemed if he had to kill himself after defeating the big eye.

That would have been a great ending.

To quote a wise man: A great sacrifice, and a perfect victory.
