infinite undead defeat dragon at lions arch

What’s your current story step and objective?
Do you mean Claw Island, not Lion’s Arch?
There is a thread about this area already – https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/story/Retribution-is-beyond-broken-right-now-Merged-thread/first
I have played through on 8 characters, I think 6 of them solo, and this did happen once. The Tenstrikes mercenaries were following me and we got to the courtyard and defeated the first group of undead. I went into the next group and gathered aggro to myself and began dodging. The Tenstrikes mercenaries and Pact soldiers that were following me stood there and did not engage. I was overwhelmed and the undead attacked my companions. They did not appear to be fighting back against the undead who had come up to them and died very, very quickly after I was defeated. When I ran back from the checkpoint, all were defeated and I could not recover. I restarted and it went off without a hitch.
Yes i mean claw island, the story part is retribution, the infinite spawn was part right before you fight brightgast the plaguebringer . Where you have to recapture the main courtyard on claw island.
You have to kill the veteran risen to prevent them from spawning more.
I kamikaze’d into them with everything I had to take them down.
This should progress the courtyard takeover, stop the endless risen mobs, and spawn the final dragon.
Edit:
To the person who mentioned the mercenaries:
Yes they currently help you up until the courtyard and they just stand there after charging into risen mobs and dying.
Res them, they take 2 hits and die again.
Tarnished Coast
Norpass Imperium [NOPE]
Which Order did you choose? I believe each order has something in this area to help them? I know priory has a cannon thing, and I read Vigil has their own (but maybe that was a typo and they meant Priory).
Also, I attempted to snipe the veteran who summons Thrall’s, but I got him to like 10% hp and then died cuz the Thralls run too fast and I couldn’t live that long.
I pulled it off without a hitch way back on my Ranger and Warrior. Sometime after undead update I think is when it broke and became stupid hard. My mesmer couldn’t pull it off. Not enough burst or sustainability. Especially in the AoE department.
I wound up recruiting 4 guildies to help me blow through it the third time.
As others have mentioned, you need to focus the veterans, they are the ones that spawn minions.
For me it is usually the two veteran acolytes that give the trouble. When you attack them they keep summoning hordes of undead. Once you defeated the acolyte all summoned adds will disappear. Making them the first priority before any other usually helps me finish this mission without too much trouble.
