Ok, tried again and to expand on my wondering.

It seems the boosted kraits love to drop long duration poison AOE and 5 stack AOE bleeds. Best i can tell they are instant effects, so by the time the circle is on the ground you have already been affected.

The veteran at the end summons a mix of 5 kraits, meaning that you are facing down 6 of these beasts in a a single go. Get defeated, and the fight resets. retreat too far and the leash triggers, and fight yet again resets.

The area of the fight is covered in bushes and on a slight height, so situational awareness without pulling the mobs some distance is difficult.

It is in a corner of the instance area so you do not have much space in those directions.

All in all the fight is a clusterkitten for my engineer.

I’m having the same issue. I managed to get her down to about 1/3 health when she summoned a second time and killed me. It seems the summons are time-based rather than hp-based so killing the spawns doesn’t help either. I’d appreciate any tips that people may have for completing this mission.

edit: From what I can tell, summons come up around once every 5-10 seconds.

She’s summoned up to 6 krait at once when I’ve tried it (the AoE cap being 5 targets, so I can’t even hit all of them at once if they stack up). Each of them has cc abilities… really annoying.

I’ve tried killing off the summons, but my cleric-statted ele can’t kill a batch before she summons more.

I’ve tried bursting her down before she summons more, because if she dies the summons will disappear as soon as the encounter resets, and she won’t respawn. But I couldn’t survive long enough to kill her.

I’ve tried kiting the lot while hitting her from afar, but they each have a cc ability, mostly pulls, and they’re mostly ranged anyways.

Broke all of my armor on her, gave up. Literally never had a problem in the PS before this.

I just did this one a few days ago, she damaged all my armor down to yellow before I decided to screw it all and just keep hitting her with the gs and ignore the mobs. Was definitely the hardest fight I ever had in this game (At least I won in the end).

How about this time you check ALL such mobs and we don’t have to do this for a third time when another Krait boss is discovered?

Ok, i have to ask: why were Krait and Risen buffed like so? Especially the Risen. They were already OP with their (rather odd!) speed buff.

An “across the board” buff like this needs to be checked across the board, too. The fact that so much problems are coming up in personal stories with Krait and Risen tells me someone cut corners somewhere. No cookies for the QA team until all of those Personal Story troubles are fixed!

As a work-around until the change goes in, if you have any Interrupt (Stun, Daze etc.), you can stop the summon by holding the Interrupt until the Krait rears up, then Interrupting it. That’s how I got through this and the previous mission with a summoning Krait. They will probably summon again before your Interrupt is off CD (unless you have multiple), but will likely nearly be dead by then.

Point, tho it depends on me having something with interrupt handy and managing to both switch to it and target the mobs in question within the time required.

I find so little use for “controls” during most of the game that i forget what skills produce interrupts. This in large part because if find controls not controlling anything because their primary effect do not last long enough. This in particular when i find myself facing multiple mobs (and that would be most fights, thanks to how the open world aggro system works).

For once, I agree. This is a mission I couldn’t complete and I have solo’d all the others I have played.

Plus, when you die and checkpoint, you immediately find yourself facing 2-3 respawned Krait before you even return to the battle.

Just 1 or 2 other player would be enough, personal story doesn’t scale. I’m content to wait it out, as personal story isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.

It is nearly impossible to solo right now, though. Maybe with full zerker’s and just burst the boss down before the summons get out of hand.

The update was maintenance only, no content was modified.

When I tried it with a friend we ace’d it easily. But I tried it with a lvl72 mesmer using lvl72 gear and couldn’t even kill an add. Or should that be adder, with them being snakes?

I was already thinking of calling time on the elementalist character for being weaksauce, this mission sealed the deal.

I just did it with Mesmer after coming here and seeing that it is bugged. The interrupt/daze/stun advice is good. I loaded up all the stuns and dazes I could and focused her down and it worked after 5 prior tries with not using dazes/stuns before coming here. Good luck to everyone.

I was using Signet of Malice with a Shortbow on my thief. Each bounce will heal.

Found something else that is weird/buggy in this step though. In the beginning after the ambush. The kraits that spawn on the ramp, if you die fighting these and respawn at the checkpoint they will teleport over with you!

Seriously? EVERYTHING gets past them, why are they even considered a step any more? ((I kid… mostly.))

Side note: I can actually run PAST the boss and grab the real goal of the mission, then escape with it. However, that doesn’t actually end the mission, you MUST beat her. She’s not even supposed to be here (facing her was the other mission option you could choose), so why isn’t just going around her an option for this one?

I suspect they deal with technical issues, not game balance issues. Meaning that if it do not crash servers or clients, it gets the thumbs up for release.

Not surprising as that signet outperforms a necromancer with 20 trait points in blood magic for the vampiric traits. Only time a necomancer gets ahead is at 30, when multiple wells on the floor and multiple mobs standing on top of them. And that means the necromancer must be standing still inside the well to keep the mobs there, and not use DS to avoid the incoming damage…

i’m stucked in this part also. i’m guardian with lots of toughness and vitality and using good skills combination and still dont have any chance with that monster. its almost impossible. need some help on this please! (and with potion of krait slaying!)

Seems doable since the patch, to i had to restart form checkpoint once because it seems there are multiple duos of krait spawning at the base of the path, and so you risk getting stuck up there fighting one duo after another. and yea, i found myself respawning into a fight against another krait duo.
