the moment i had to choose Order:
- it did not say it was permanent (the word “permanent” wasn’t there)
- it did not say it would affect armour and weapon types .
it just said it was an important choice that would affect how the story would progress (the type of quests)
i even checked the official wiki at the time when i made the choice and it said that orders could later be changed! (now the wiki entry has been corrected…but too late for many!)

personal story should be about giving us the freedom to decide what we want to be……making it less linear…instead what it’s actually doing is making us feel even more stuck into a narrow road we can’t even get out of!
you should’ve at least given us a better taste of the different Orders before forcing this choice which actually narrows the players options.
for example i would have never ever chosen The Whispers once taken a good look at them ;P (ok fashion is a subjective but….it’s safe to say they ain’t pretty looking).
i’m not relevelling another identical thief to level 80 just to be finally able to put the vigil armour and weapons i want .(and u shouldn’t expect your customers to have to waste so much time on the game)

are there any plans to allow players to switch orders or allow them to buy other orders armour/weapons? i still believe a player should really be able to switch Order.
not even in real life u r stuck with working for 1 company forever! but gw2 chars seems they are……stuck!

Yep, I pretty much picked the wrong Order (I may be a warrior, but he’s an Ascalonan descended human with no love for Charr.) And the Vigil armor makes me cringe. Ah, well, ignore it in RP, get nice looking stuff off the trading post, and RESEARCH next time for me.

Same experience and I chose whispers too. Had I known more….

You say that now but once they start progressing into Act 2 and Higher in the Personal Story there will be much more things affected by your Order.

After more than 100 hours on my norn guardian lvl80 (I’m not going to start everything all over again…), I wish I could change the Order I’m in… simply to wear that kitten vigil helmet that I like so much >.> (I’m in the priory…) I think the only change that should be made should be to allow player to wear any skin, even from other orders Easy fix, quickly done, no additional mission arcs to “transfer” a character from an Order to another

^^ agreed. They even have the perfect story already in place at lvl 59 when all the orders work together. Just let us wear any orders armor/weapons at that point.

I just hit this Durmand Priory decision last night and looked it up specifically because I was told the choice I make is permanent. I was going Vigil anyway as a warrior but wanted to read more about it first. If you missed that in the dialog then you missed it, but she does tell you it’s permanent before you get to talk to the 3 NPC’s.

Seems no matter what choices people have made they weren’t happy. Here’s the post I read of others that missed the permanent part.

I actually wish that choosing the order had a bigger impact. For me, I felt that it affected a few personal story missions for a handful of levels and that was it. At level 80, I don’t find that it matters. I did use whispers coat for awhile, but changed it eventually.

Are there plans for bringing in more order-oriented content?
