These gold spammers are really annoying in the game, but you can’t turn a blind eye to their great prices — and that got me a bit frustrated.

I won’t go off and purchase gold outside of the games ToS and risk my account being perma-banned — simply not worth it.

However in-game gold is a bit pricey when you look at what the gold spammers are spamming and what ArenaNET is stating.

4,000 Gems to Gold is about ~15g will cost you $50 (OUCH!)
Yet the gold spammers are giving you 10g for $4.

I think ArenaNET should fix the market value a tad

No. It should be prohibitive. If you can just get tons of gold for a tiny bit of cash, it defeats the whole in-game economy and causes severe inflation.

The interest in the low price is exactly what they’re counting on. See, when you contact them, they’ll ask for your login, so they can “transfer to you the golds and levels”.

Now they have your money AND you’re a gold farmer/spammer.

Those ingame gold sellers usually just steal your credit card though, and get the gold from hacked accounts. Sometimes they get the money through botting, but everything still seems rotten. I could go on and on with complaints about gold sellers.

ANET is my reliable gold seller. And when I feel like getting a good deal, I buy from an IRL friend. But that’s a private matter which isn’t in any way comparable to “Gold sellers.”

well not sure if you guys realized this, but you cannot login to your account unless its through the approved IP address… and the only way they could do that is if they got your account password, AND your email password to approve it, hopefully you aren’t doing the thing that fresh to the internet people do and using the same or similar password everywhere, because that makes it real easy for anyone (not just gold selling hackers) to get your account info for multiple things.

simply put, use good passwords that are different from each other on everything, dont install trojans, and regardless of where you use your credit card, keep an eye on the bill because thieves dont just lurk on video games.. this is common sense to anything revolving around secrets and numbers and passwords.

p.s. if they got your info for your account, it wasn’t through hacking or through your gold purchase, it was most likely because you have a trojans from a bad download or bad website and your anti-virus isn’t good enough…. 90% of hacked accounts are from trojans and other viruses that gather info and sell the info to various sources

Another thing to consider, as stated above, is that many times those sites place keyloggers etc on your comp, well hidden, that then tell them all your info, log ins, passwords, etc not only from this game but from everywhere including your email and so on. Seriously bad idea to even go to their sites much less give them you CC or paypal info etc. not to mention your account info. It used to be they had characters which would personally meet you in game and literally trade you the gold. (Yes, back in the day many years ago I used a gold seller when I was stupid and naive). I wouldn’t even go near one of those sites these days.

For $4 you can get 10 gold, possibly hacked and have all your gold and items stolen, and/or have your account banned costing you your time and $60 investment into the game.

I wouldn`t buy it unless it was 1 copper less then $4.00
