I was reading this thread here and had this idea.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/suggestions/The-return-of-Hard-Mode/first#post982289

A lot of GW1 vets or even new GW2 players would like a form of hard mode not just tied to dungeons but for the whole PVE world.

I say this could happen. Even if GW2 has a persistant world where GW1 did not.

Make 2 channels per server

Channel 1 = Normal mode
Channel 2 = Hard mode…everything is lvl 80 plus, drops rewards etc.

Only lvl 80s can enter hard mode. Or add to the requirement list.
Also make it HARD…very HARD…like GW1 was or harder…so that people who dont want the challenge/headache will stay in normal as well…in an effort to maintain population on normal channels.

etc etc blah blah blah.

Thanks

I do like this idea, would give some more reason to try to farm an area other than Orr. Would be interesting to have the entire map be filled with dungeon strength creatures

Agreed, that’s what hard mode should be about.

Having the world map with Dungeon style enemies. This way if we don’t want to do dungeons we can do it in the world map.

GW1 hard mode was great and with the idea above I’m sure they could implement it in GW2.

It would be easier if they just adjusted the lvl scaling a bit.
A lvl80 in exotics, or even without exotics just cruises trough lower lvl areas.
Scale down must be steeper so things remain a challange.
Added to this, loot and event rewards should be depending on character lvl, not area lvl.

That way lvl 80’s can go fight in other areas and still get their drops and still have a ‘challange’ similar to orr.

And meta (world) events should be visible on the map for the whole world, or atleast the maps neighboring the map with the event, that will draw in more people.

If you are gonna split the world in normal and hard mode normal mode is gonna get totally deserted eventually, which is bad for new people starting the game.

Even though I personally woould not use it. An ability to increase difficulty wouldn’t be a bad idea for adrenaline junkies.

I would support the idea of Open World Hard Mode if:

1. It didn’t further segregate the community.
2. Hard Mode was cross-server (without guesting)
3. Normal Mode was cross-server (without guesting)
4. It functioned much the same way as it did in GW1. (Hard Mode must be selected from inside a town)

As the game stands now, adding something into it that does nothing more than further segregating the community is a bad idea. It’s hard enough to find groups to do dungeons and most zones are complete ghost towns. If you’ve taken a look at how FotM has segregated the community, you’d understand….and that’s just ONE dungeon. Imagine if that segregation encompassed the entire world of Tyria.

Right now, I feel that ArenaNet has bigger fish to fry. Also, if you remember, Hard Mode in GW1 didn’t come out for like 5 years (I looked it up and it was actually introduced nearly 2 years after the release…not 5). Asking for something like that now would only add insult to injury.

Give it time. I’m SURE ArenaNet is considering adding a Hard Mode to the game. They did it in GW1. They just need to figure out a solid way of doing it that doesn’t negatively affect the community at large.
