So in an interview with Colin Johanson on the 16th he made mention that a 9th profession is a long way down the list.

I can live with that but I would like to put forward that if they did do it and it was a heavy class might I request the Scythe Wielding, Damage AoE Dealing with a GW’s 2 Modification Dervish.

It was my personal favorite in GW’s 1 and I would love to see it make a return!

Anyone else?

Well considering he announced it, it’s probably somewhere in development already.

However, I’ve been pulling for Dervish in GW2 since launch. I don’t think it will be implemented though considering the Guardian’s likeness to the original Dervish.

I’d love to see a Dervish or even a Dervish-like profession in GW2.

As a side note, I’ve also wanted Ritualist. Both were my favorite in the original Guild Wars, and I think having either one would be pretty sweet!

How many of these countless silly "I want Dervs back, I want Rits back, I want paras back-Threads have to be posted more, until you guys finally realize, that those Classes will never come back as separate class due to many minor to major reasons regarding of the current 8 classes that GW2 already has???.

If GW2 will ever see in near future a 9th seperate class, then it will surely be not something stupidly borign as a recycled GW1 class, whose gameplay mechanics are all already basically existing in the current 8 classes more or less.

Its far more realistisch, to see something like Ritualist becoming something like a Necromancer – Sub Class maybe in future into which we can specialize our characters to improve the Necromancers abilities in being a superior Minion Master that has powers in all kinds of unholy summons, be it undeads, ghosts or even just a kind of demonic creature they could summon maybe with some kind of blood rituals

Thats imo the way into which GW2 should develop itself further and which has far more superior potential to make out of GW2 a great and unique game in the end, than to blow up this good game with douzens if unneded extra separate classes, which would make alos in the end the gamew alot more harder to balance, than to balance sub classes for a game, which is alot more easier.

Dervishs will never come back, they are lorewise a complete 100% humans only thing!!
Also they are corrensponding to divine things, just like monks and it was the best thing of ANet to decide to take everything religional out of the game and base GW2 around classes, which truly fit for all playable races and have nothing to do with anything divine.. Also we have now the norn as playable shapeshifting aspect and if anything Anet should do at all about shapeshifting is to improve the norn transforming skilsl to make them a bit more epic and trustworthy in their animations.

paras will also never come back, because they basically got totally absorbed by the warriro and mainly the guardian. The guardian has even a SpvP title called “Paragon”.
———-

If Anet ever will make the class setting equal as first step for addign a new class, then they should add rather something totally new and unique to the game, that works as a kind of “brandmark” for GW2 in relationsahip of the gameplay that this class should add to the game, which should be completely unique and different compared to the other 8 classes.

WHen playing this 3rd soldier class, you should have at the end the feeling, that ypou clearly play something totally different, than a warrior or a guardian with gameplay mechanics, weapons ect, that these 2 classes can’t use at all or by far absolutely no similar like that new class.

The only classes that come into mind as a 3rd soldier type class to fill the niche would be:

- The Dragoon
- The Partizane
- The Crusader
- The Mercenary
- The Legionnaire

Something along of these could make it into a real unique GW2 class fitting into the role as 3rd soldier class.

But surely not something unlikely as like a totally reworked and recycled scythe wielding wannabe god- dancing peasant that mysteriously fights now 250 years later in heavy armors, which absolutely don’t fit to the lore regarding to their former armor design >.<
Sorry to burst your dream bubbles, but seriously, get real.
For the whole game would it be alot better in every kind of aspects to bringt new classes, something that nobody of us has seen before anywhere in other actual MMORPGs and that fits to the lore of GW2 and all of its playable races!

Personally I like the idea behind sub classes ~ quoted from Chris Whiteside

LOL Im really sorry but you made me LOL really hard.

First I haven’t seen that many Derv Threads at all and I do read these forums alot

If GW2 will ever see in near future a 9th seperate class, then it will surely be not something stupidly borign as a recycled GW1 class, whose gameplay mechanics are all already basically existing in the current 8 classes more or less.

I think you’ll find that I did say a MODIFIED Dervish like the other classes had. IE Mesmer, Warrior, Necro, Ele, Thief, Ranger. Oh wait they were recycled GW’s 1 Professions weren’t they.

Dervishs will never come back, they are lorewise a complete 100% humans only thing!!

UMMMMMMMM No Sorry there were other species that ran Derv builds in GW’s1 so no thats not true I’m afraid.

Also they are corrensponding to divine things, just like monks and it was the best thing of ANet to decide to take everything religional out of the game and base GW2 around classes, which truly fit for all playable races and have nothing to do with anything divine..

Except for the Kodan right? What do we do about them when they become playable characters? Also you have seen the Human racial skills right? And the Norn support the Spirits of the Wild. HMMMM better remove them from the game now.

Also we have now the norn as playable shapeshifting aspect and if anything Anet should do at all about shapeshifting is to improve the norn transforming skilsl to make them a bit more epic and trustworthy in their animations.

At this point I’m kinda wondering if your not a little tired or if you’ve had some sort of illegal stimulant or a few to many drinks.

What does that have to do with Dervs at all?

So anyway I would like to ask if in the future you could copy and paste your post into a word document at let it do a spell and grammar check before re-pasting and posting in here.

Thanks for your input I hope you have a nice day and I hope you enjoy playing Engineer and Guardian as they are the only non recycled classes you can play.

Crusader = Guardian especially if you’re a human
Legionnaire = Warrior, Look at pvp achievements
Mercenary= To close to Assassin which is now named a Thief

Dragoon does sound very promising though
Would be neat to see if they would be willing to make tridents and spears terrestrial weapons for this class.

Shapeshifting looks very good.

But the proffession should not have a holy orientation, for diverge of Guardians and Norn. Also need be fully focused in shapeshifting, changing part or full body in animated or inanimated things.

I apreciate very much the Anet work, i know that they will bring something fun.
Good Luck
