A Few Suggestions For PvE Condi Builds
I still stand by my idea I posted months and months ago about condition caps in PvE. Basically my idea was allow over the max stacks, but for every 5 or so stacks over the normal 25 max, duration gets cut in half but damage is increased. This would make condi builds viable because you would have to keep slamming them on to keep those stacks up. As for the duration based conditions like burning, poison, ect those can be fixed by giving them a sliding scale based on duration. The more duration you add (based on every 5 or 10 seconds of duration) you get increased damage (the increase would be based on how the sliding scale scales up, possibly unique for each condition to prevent overpowering). This would give condi builds the same effect as simply throwing in more raw dps but keep it so that they are actually contributing in some way instead of just keeping stacks/duration maxed out.
I still like your idea though for some bosses to give them a unique encounter, maybe have it be a phase they go through instead fo the whole time though so that the raw dps people aren’t standing around twiddling their thumbs too.

Instead of fix, you can make it so, different dungeons or contents are possible with different builds, which they tried to achieve with Queen’s Gauntlet.
- Make a boss or couple of monsters that takes 90% reduced direct damage. People will be forced to use conditions to kill it.
Wait what…
Things should be diverse! But people should be forced to spec in a specific way to fight a boss.

I don’t think his ideas are unreasonable, but that’s also why I said this about it:

Making it a phase for a boss would be fine. Every class has access to conditions in some form. Would just have to pre-plan the fight. It would only be a phase or two after all, not the entire fight.

right now you are forced to go direct damage, because more than one Condition DD in a fight means will steal each others damage. For example if both can burn/poison the enemy or have more than 12,5 Bleeds 100% of the time only one will do the damage.
Something needs to be done to give Condition Damage the same behaviour regardless if there is one ore more Condition players in the same fight. But making it more important by capping direct damage isn’t the way to go.
The cap has to be removed so everyone can output his full damage and you can go into dungeons with more than one condition DD.
I think this could be the way to go:

@Asurch: Your last point exists, in form of the Necro Trait Target_the_Weak and i belive there are others too, but unfortunatly it only buffs direct damage witch in a condition build isn’t that big.
I see your points but I don’t see this as an only condition damage problem. There should be bosses that Berserker builds can do it easily, there should be bosses Rabid builds can do it easily, there should be bosses Rampager builds can do it easily etc. Each time, your main stats have to change, your general DPS would drop if you stick on only Berserker. Yeah I see 90% is a bit over powered so keeping it as a phase is fine.
I like your over stack ideas but I keep thinking this.
- Whenever a condition(lets say bleed) gets to max stacks, if you try to apply a new bleed, it wouldn’t count as a condition stack, but deal it’s condition damage multiplied by X to the monster.
I dont think A-net would like to make stacks over 25, so they would pretty much do something like this in my opinion.
I don’t think dealing the damage your condition would normally do in form of direct damage or any other form of damage multiplied by X is the right way. Conditions are meant to deal constant damage over time and not burst damage.
Bad news I think A-Net didn’t think about or ignores the unfairness of condition damage at all, because there was no change since release.
