Q:

Hey Everyone,

I am new to the game with less than a month playing. For the most part I find Guild Wars 2 to be incredibly fun to play. I simple cherish the lush, graphical world with awe inspiring vistas, both underwater and in the varied ecosystems. The character classes seem fun with all the varied abilities, each one having new and interesting ways of interacting with the world. I also enjoy the World vs. World, although I am woefully horrible at it.

With that said, I have a few suggestions that I would like to see added to the game. Perhaps in time I will understand the nuances of the system more and change my opinion.

Simple Merchants: Seems rather bland, so why not have each one sell a page in a book of the history of the world with the goal of collecting the full story from page 1 to 500 let’s say. Both a way to learn the lore but also a fun challenge to find all the merchants tucked away in the world.

Undersea Resources: I find underwater marvelous, but rather bland in interactivity. So why not offer clams that give pearls, coral, conch shells, and other valuables one can harness.

Dungeons: I know I will get a lot of flack from this, but I just don’t see the fun in dying 30 times to kill a boss or the harsh and unforgiving jumping sequences one needs to go through to move on? Is there something I am missing or are the designers just cruel sadomasochists? Every time I try a dungeon, I am seething mad after two hours of just constantly dying and restarting with the group — this is not fun!?!

Fishing: So many beautiful streams, one must be able to go fishing!

fishing is something they were asked about prelaunch. they want to leave some features for future updates. but they definitely appreciate the idea.

Merchant thing… Not sure I fully understand the application of it outside of the collective book thing – which I like! I wouldn’t have it merchant-bound though. Maybe scatter them tastefully throughout the world – some locations being merchants, but not strictly – with various tales to go by. Maybe even make them visible, equippable items! Statless perhaps, but a bragging right no less for its time dedication? Could be cool!

Undersea Resources… This is already somewhat true later down the line – coral does exist as a material. But expanding upon it could be nifty, if there’s an explanation for it.

Dungeons… They were designed to be difficult. I don’t want to point a finger and say it’s your fault, though; In truth, it’s not. Not all groups make the cut, and sometimes that’s all there is to it. But this acts as a sort of training. It actually has a bar set for what you need to be capable of to get the good rewards. It gives you a sense of accomplishment when you get through it (for a little while, anyway; once you get the dance steps down, it’s still fun, but not so much a feat).

Fishing could be cool! There’s potential with that. Just… not a whole lot of it. Could be nice as a sort of fourth gathering source, but otherwise I can’t see a whole lot of application for it. That’s just me.

I actually really like the book idea. I’ll +1 that.

I’m always in favour of more Lore. +1 to that book, although I’d think a few different ways of getting pages would be less monotonous.

The dungeons are hard, were hard and will hopefully continue to be hard. They’re a challenge and it is worth the struggle in the end, both in terms of loot/gear and personal satisfaction.

I would like to see expansion of the undersea resources as well. Just not worth the effort at the moment.

Fishing; yes, 100%. Anything that adds to immersion is something I can get behind.
