A One Time Purchasable Class Change
I think it will be also nice if there is a change option not only by profession but a whole in general. I am thinking if the option would be an entire reset.
What i meant is that the option is purchasable via gem store cost a bit less than an character expansion slot.
The reset will reset everything from face, gender, name, race, profession and personal story. What will remain is the character lvl for pve, pvp and wvw. Exploration maybe it would be hopefully reset as well. Bound items and class specifc armors and soulbounded items are invalidated to be left salvageable.
Profession manuals learned hopefully would not be reset, but i think it is okay.
I think this would be a good opportunity for people who are unhappy in their character stories and choices made during character creation, as well as for those who will want to experience the other storylines that GW2 has to offer.
No
Reasons:
1) Armor and Weapons are not the same from class to class. Don’t suggest to “replace with equivalent gear” either. No matter what people will still be forced to regear the character all over again.
2) Skill Unlocks… The only reasonable solution to this issue is to reset spent skill points
I can understand the desire to change class and not want to level up all over again, but still this simply isn’t a viable feature. No matter how you try to implement it, it just wont work. Don’t mistake my understanding as sympathizing though… Even if a viable method for this was found I’d still be against it. It’s simply not needed.
GW2 offers methods already to level up alts quickly as well. Simply use the lvl 80 you want to “class change” to farm resources for maxing all crafts, bank supplies and gold then recreate the character and watch your lvl 1 become lvl 80 with minimal effort, via crafting.
It’s called a character slot.
The main problem with this is that you would have NO IDEA about how you play your new profession. Getting to level 80 means, in most cases, that you have at least some understanding about your profession and such. Getting a level 80 profession that you have never played would make things like this problematic and could create issues with grouping and such.

Heh, I only posted it cause I have heard people talking about it. Nor did I say I would use.
i have 4 lvl 80s now, so far i have heard nothing here making it a bad idea :P only excuse i would find from Anets side is it would break the story, well i really dont care, never gone far in it and will never go far in the story.
your skills of a class will get better no matter if you start at 80 and can enjoy the game more or start with kitten at lvl 1 and be bored for 40 hours before you get to 80. 5 hours is still 5 hours.
Skill unlocks, dont care, got 80 spare skill points on my latest level 80, got what 150 on one of my others, and i know people with 500+ skill points.
How hard is it to re-gear a char? i have multiple gear sets on my lvl 80’s
