All is in the title

This profession could receive a nice little addition, if a Skill, maybe an Elite, would enable you to reveal hidden characters for a moment.

I’d just like pets to see through stealth with 20 BM traits spent.

^ this would be nice; so your pet would still attack a stealthed player (but since you cant lock onto them with a bow/axe you still need to go an whack away with a sword)

Desolation: 80 ranger [Nightwither], 80 necro [Dusk Grimsoul]
80 warr [Blaze Steelsoul], 80 ele [Blaze Nightstrike], 80 mesmer [Grim Shatterwhirl]
80 guard [Dusk Grimlight], 80 engi [Flintgear]

I would only be ok with this if the enemy was revealed for 0.5 seconds or less, so they just flash briefly, and the cooldown on the revealing skill had a 45-60 seconds cooldown at least. Also, I do not think this kind of skill should be limited to just the ranger. At least 3 professions should have access to a skill like this, even if it is only through traits.

As to the pet seeing through stealth. This would pretty much destroy stealth completely, as you would have a good enough idea of an enemy’s where abouts and could just lay down AoE’s in front of your pet. Also it’s not difficult to attack with your slot 1 skill where your pet is attacking. So no, I do not agree with this idea at all.

Simplicity is complex.

Good feedback is key to getting the developers to listen to you.

Having pets see stealth would completely ruin the balance in the game. Best solution is to bind your pets attack to something easy. When you are able to see the player, send your pet after him.

Maybe a skill could be added for players to see enemies briefly, but it would have to be for a very short time, just long enough for you to see which direction they are going so you can pull them out.

Revealing stealth has not harmed it’s use in other titles; so I don’t see why it should in GW2. I find it unfair that there are 2 classes that have a skill there is no counter to.

He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster.

I don’t play either a Ranger or a Theif, but this seams like a pretty decent idea. Instead of a BM20 skill maybe a trap with 3 charges that reveal stealth. You lay down the traps on key points, or around yourself and cookie-cutter Thief cheapness is lessened.

They still hurt you, but you will have a chance.

What if instead of actually revealing the stealthed individual it caused them to leave a trail behind (like the way some legendary weapons do), like it’s their scent (and since you can’t actually smell in-game a visual representation of a scent trail would be the best you could do).

I think it would fit the idea of the Ranger better than just being able to see through stealth. Would allow you to, briefly, discern their location without letting you directly target them. During larger battles the scent trail might be obscured in the melee, which would serve as a balance for the Ranger’s ability so it doesn’t render stealth basically useless and allow for tactical use (allowing a thief to hide in the crowd, as it were, to possibly get the drop on the ranger).

Given how short stealth is it would have to be pretty short duration.

There is absolutely no evidence to support that it would.” -AnthonyOrdon

The trail idea sounds great, and not much complicated to implement, I think.

the trail idea thing is great, the skill could be a channeled skill so you can see the thief trail whilst channeling but have to stop to attack/swipe where you saw the trail end a second ago. The trail could be revealed to your pet too, so it could attack as you channel, but allies can’t shouldn’t be able to see it, as i think that would be OP, and would require rangers in groups to have this skill.
