Give us a toggle that would keep the damage floaters seen above the enemy from disappearing/resetting on each hit.

Right now they disappear after each skill use but what if we had an toggle button to temporarily disable the resetting of those numbers, for both direct and condition damage floaters. As the fight goes on the numbers will accumulate until you reset it or toggle it back. This solution will be simple, non intrusive, and should fit right in with the current system.

We already have an option for Simple vs. Detailed condition floaters. Make it a 3 choice option with 3rd one being the one I’m proposing in this post.

Thank you!

We don’t need a DPS meter – in fact it would be detrimental to the game itself if we had one.

Players should not be emphasizing something as simple as numbers. They should be focusing on playstyle, creativity, originality and fun, regardless of what the numbers are.

You might be in the wrong game if this is something you think you need.

Well over 3k hours played and I am sure GW2 is the right game for me. I have all professions at 80 (even multiples of some of them) and have explored and still am exploring various playstyles those classes provide and love getting creative on every encounter with them. I have reached a point where it’s not enough anymore, I want hard numbers to back up my theories and strategies. Call this an interest in theorycrafting and exploration of the min/max side of gw2.

So you want to take a game that specifically does not allow for add-ons for mostly this very purpose, and a games mentality which is to not play entirely based on numbers – but on skill/fun, and you want to suggest throwing that all away for every new player and every future #-bullied player, because “it’s not enough anymore” for you?

You are literally suggesting they cater to your sense of “enough”, even though it is detrimental to the manifesto of the game?

The biggest problem with a dps meter is that people do not understand how to use one.
Dps meters should be a personal thing for helping you improve yourself, not putting you into a league with other people.
For example If someone was to run in and do 10k dps then die after 2 seconds, they have done 20k damage to a boss. Some body who was doing 1k dps but survived the whole 2min fight would have done 120k damage. Therefore the lower dps would be better.

People will take these numbers and pick the one they are best at and claim to be god of the game. It’s pretty much like playing chess with a pigeon(google it for an explanation)

ATM min/max zerging is breaking variety giving people a meter to tell them how great they are at it will make it so much worse.

That’s my opinion anyway

Agreed Freak. There are already enough berserker elitists out there that we don’t need to add to it.

This game focuses on so much more than strict dps in combat such as mobility and dodging – elements that reduce DPS. This isn’t your typical MMO where you just stand in one place and attack.

i would love the idea. there is nothing about beeing elitist with berserker armor, the problem is the whole combat. use berserkerarmor and you do 10x the dmg. use a defensive armor and you survive 1s longer. attacking is the best way of defending <.<
this dps-meter should just record your dmg done to (1 – 5) mobs over a given time.
since you cant compare e.g. the downscaled dmg to the dmg done in pvp to some golems
