Add an option to not render allies or the spell/attack effects of allies (except for field effects and things we generally would want to see). You would still see the names of the people so you could tell how many allies you had nearby helping you take down a zone boss, assault a keep in WvW, etc.

As an example, my computer has absolutely no problem rendering awesome dragons and sieges, but once you throw 20 people in there all shooting fire and stuff everywhere, the FPS just drops.

There could be several stages to this option, such as Hiding All Effects > Hiding All But Self > Hiding All But Party > Hiding All But Enemies > Hiding Nothing, I think you all get the general idea by now.

A good suggestion. I found my PC chugging a bit during some large WvW fights over the weekend. My system isn’t NASA spec but it’s no slouch.

I think Rift brought in something similar and iirc it worked well.
