Writer’s Note
I used the term “Trading Post,” simply because I (and others) identify the trading post with the gem store (same button). I do mean selling it on the Gem Store (hence gem store sales!).

I think I speak for many a people who’d say, “TAKE IT, TAKE ALL OF MY MONEY!” Jokes aside, the suggestion the OP has wrote is WONDERFUL. So many wonderful things could be done with an item such as that! Please, please Anet…Pretty please with sugar on top!

I would adore this. Perhaps over time there could be more chair items, as well? This is a wonderful idea and I would love to see it implemented.

I would love to be able to drag out a chair to sit on. Or to just have a ledge-sitting animation in general…
It is so frustrating to see npc’s sitting on chairs, yet your character forgot how to use a chair in a proper way…

All of my yes on this one! Chairs would add a much-needed animation for every single roleplayer (and there’s kind of a lot)! As a roleplayer myself, I can’t say how many times I’ve frowned at the fact that when I try to sit on something, my character clips halfway through, making it look like my character is about to give birth. Must be incredibly uncomfortable.
We don’t ask for much, but chairs would make a HUGE difference, that’s for sure!

I would love chairs, they could even make different varieties of chairs too, like a beach chair, lounge chair, study chair and hell, maybe even a bench that seats 2-3 people using a similar function to the “Invite to Dance” one (Though that would probably end up race restricted due to size differences)

All my money on chairs.. really. I wouldn’t even mind stools! Heck I want this so much I would even pay for a table to sit on if that’s easier.

If this were comparable to the instruments and had a similar price, I’d easily spend some real coin on obtaining one. Also, an overlapping feature where one can sit down, then play the instrument will be very nice.

Lots of things to do with this. Different styles of seats depending on the race that uses it. Perhaps a heavy iron bar stools for Charr so their tail animations don’t go awry and so forth.

This is an awesome idea, I really hope it can be turned into reality! I know I would pay gems to get my own chair…

I would, without hesitation, drop $30 to have a chair. I would do this for ALL of my characters- and I have seven at the moment. This would be absolutely and completely amazing to have. Just the IDEA of having a chair fairly -glows- to my mind. Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes and all of my YES. ANet, I sincerely hope you take this into serious consideration because I can promise you that the money spent on programming, designing and implementing the chairs would be made back within a fortnight and profit would ROLL in.

I would pay gems to buy a chair, personally. And there’re already models in-game for race specific furniture. Not that I know much about coding, but still.

It seems like such a simple request, to be able to sit on a designated chairs in areas in PvE. Such as a tavern or enterable structure.

And if you aren’t willing/able to do that, I can compromise with a TP/Gem Store Item. But, I wonder how difficult it would be to make those new animations of sitting…

P.S. If you ever sell chairs in the TP, PLEASE MAKE THEM ACCOUNT WIDE.

See, I’d pay for this and honestly I have non-RPing buddies in game who would also use it just to hang around on, I think it would be an incredibly popular item!

I am a lover of all things sitting and seat-related, and would jump at any opportunity to purchase or obtain some sort of chair/stool/stump to sit on! If this was incorporated in -any- way to the game, I would throw all my money at GW2!

I would definitely buy sittable chairs. All of my yes. And really, it can’t be harder than all those dancing animations…

I would buy a chair my characters can sit on from the gem store.

I don’t really spend much on the gem store (for financial reasons AND there’s little there that interests me at the moment), but this…. THIS I would pay for.

I like the idea, but I’d rather see it incorporated into crafting using different tiers of wood and leather. Maybe even different cloths if we are thinking a beach chair with a sun umbrella or metals if we are going with a “throne”.

Imagine people sitting on thrones and lawn chairs outside the bank.

I vote yes. I would totally buy a lawnchair for the lulz. I’m sure that RPers would appreciate serious chairs as well, but I would love a lawn chair with balloons and cup holders because I am a small child (at heart) who is unable to take anything seriously.

That would be awesome, but Anet has already said due to the height differences between characters it was not something they could do.

I think this an awesome idea and I support it 100%. I would definitely buy chairs from the trading post. I agree that they should be made account bound rather than soul bound though.

The only problem I see with this is that there are already so many existing chairs in buildings and such that there would be problems with over crowding. But I’m sure I speak for the rest of us when I say if you removed some of those we wouldn’t miss them in the least.

While I would much prefer the ability to sit in a chair that is already in-game, I would absolutely LOVE to have a chair I could pull out and sit on anywhere!

I’m a Role player, and I’d love to sit around a table for RP.
I’m an avid PvPer, and I’d love to pull out a chair and sit on my vanquished foes!
I’m a PvEer, and I’d love to take out a chair and sit while I’m waiting on someone for a dungeon!

Also, I’d absolutely love it if the chair had skills! 1-9 could be used for different sitting positions! While a few of my characters would sit in the chair very appropriately, I have others who’d lean forward, cross their legs, throw a leg over the arm rest as they relax, and other such things!

If this game to the gem store, I’d buy it IMMEDIATELY!

I suggested this basic idea many months back (admittedly I got the idea from Aion in which /sit had your character deploy a stool and sit primly on that) but this post develops it into sheer magnificence. And then Hex Kor takes it to the next level with letting us choose sitting position moment to moment YES PLEASE.

Maybe there could be a bar, like on the flute (using it for reference), with a new selection of skills. Those could be poses?

Oh, the possibilities…
