A compromise on the 30 second contested delay

As a lone oceanic playing on a largely NA server, I used to have plenty of fun trying to defend camps when I saw them contested on the map. I’d get some great little fights out of it, me + remaining NPCs vs say 3 guys. Sometimes I’d win, sometimes I’d lose, sometimes I wouldn’t get there in time anyway.

The 30 second delay on contested crossed swords however, now makes map-based camp defense literally impossible. Since the patch, I have not yet been able to save a single camp by watching the map, as I’m just too late every time. Sure there are other indicators like disappearing yaks/sentries, but they’re easy to avoid by any attackers with a clue.

Now as a defender, my only options are to tail the enemy group and report their movements (ineffective due to empty maps due to timezone), backcap (boring as hell) or park myself at a camp and wait (even more boring). Whatever happened to Arenanet asking the question “is this fun” of any change they make?

I can live with a 30 second delay on keeps and towers, but applying it to camps just makes it unreasonably difficult for defenders to try and hold them. They were easy enough to capture before the change, now they’re just a free flip for whoever wants them. Because more WXP/karma training is just what WvW needs. :\

TLDR: keep the 30 second contested delay on keeps and towers, but remove it from camps.
