Guild Wars 2

We know that GW2 has a very good system with overflow/cross server/instancing that allows for people from all over the world to play with each other. There is also a way to track completion of events through account achievements, as well as possible hidden tags that are unknown to the player. These systems could be “easily” (relative term as I am not a programmer and could not fathom the amount of back-end worth this would take) utilized to allow those who missed certain “one time only” events to still participate in said event.

First off, the event would still take place in real time. Any player who is at said event at the end will be “tagged” across their account as complete and will no longer be allowed to participate in this event further.

At the end of the event as NPC (Durmand Priory) would spawn. If you are tagged complete the NPC will simply give some chatter about what took place and dismiss you.

If you are NOT tagged the NPC could say something along the lines of “What you have missed will affect the lands of Tyria for years to come, through the Mists I can allow you to relive these events. The mists in this area are weak, you will only have one chance”. Once this is done you will be allowed to queue into an “overflow” of the same map where said event has not yet taken place.

Once the threshold of players are in the zone to allow for an exciting memorable event, said event will pop and players will be allowed to see how they went down real time without having to use Youtube or Live Streams.

Allow this NPC to stay for a full 24 hours after the event, and these he will despawn. This will still keep the event semi-exclusive but allow those in different time zones to play without having to say up late/wake up early/miss work/plan a day around it.
