Well so far, I have a level 80 Guardian, Ranger, Elementalist, and Necro. A level 33 Engineer, and a level 20 Thief, Warrior and Mesmer. Leveling is abit of a pain till you get to about level 45, after that its pretty quick for me though, as I’ve found a few good spots to make some good XP for Events.
I’ve been enjoying the game but I’ve noticed there are a few things missing that
could make the game better, things that were left out from GW1 that made the experience a little more fun.
1) A Material Trader – While the black Lion Trading post is all good, There are materials on there that have been overpriced do to people wanting them to get their crafting skills up. These same materials if you try to sell them have a ‘can not sell lower then merchant’ yet no merchant in the game carries them. General Merchants for the various crafting materials would be good, and would help level out some of the economy for crafting goods.
2) Pier to Pier Trading – This was one thing that made trading with people abit safe in Guildwars 1, both parties were able to see what was being given and what was being offered when they wanted to do a personal trade. This is not the case with guildwars 2, Personal trades are all at chance, you’ll either get what the other person offers or they run off with the item/coin. The black lion trade center is all good and dandy but if you want to trade with someone specific, your left to taking chances with email trades, rather then the pier to pier trade window. This in itself gives scammers a easier time scamming people out of stuff, and making it hard for the honest people to get a fair trade outside the trading post.
3) The Character Customization NPC. In guildwars 1 they added a character customization NPC you could go to to change the look of your character if you weren’t overall happy with it once you got into the game, as we all know, what you see at first may not be what it looks like once in the game do to the various lighting effects inside the game that are not in the character creation screen. There is a rumor that something will be added to the Black Lion Gem Store for just this purpose, working along the same lines as transmutation stones (1 item, 1 use) so that you can customize them again, but it has yet to be done.
4) Transmutation Stones – While were on this subject from the previous one, it would be nice if we could take and transmute the item to have the skin of light/medium/heavy armor regardless of what the armor type is, this would allow for abit more of a character customization far as appearances go and many of the armor pieces are mixable (from playing within the PvP Locker) with each other regardless of the armor type far as display. Not asking for stat transference from heavy to light, just skin working along the same lines as how the HoM skins work when applying them to a piece of armor.
5) Soulbound to Account Bound/Soulbound on Use – A Item, most likely something you would get as random loot from a Black Lion Chest, or from the Gemstore itself that would allow us to apply it to a item to change its stats from ‘soulbound’ to ‘account bound’ or even ‘soulbound on use’ so that we could swap some of the ‘soulbound’ items with other characters we have. This in itself would cut down on some of the ‘grinding’ we have to do in order to get multiple characters setup with better armor and weapons, being able to reuse that weapon we upgraded to another one from. Not asking to make them sellable, just so that we could swap them between characters.
6) Character Height – It would be nice to be able to make shorter characters, adding a little more uniqueness to the character. As it sits it seems to assume that everyone falls into the exact same height limitations for their races, but to be honest, that just doesn’t happen. Look at the real word, people range more in height in the real world then the scale we’ve been given in gw2 (or even gw1 for that matter). So how about allowing us to be shorter? Personally I would of loved to of created a Charr Cub (being from what the npc’s tell you thats when they start learning to fight, and training) and play through the story line with it, but I couldn’t even make the charr short enough to make it represent a young adult height based off the cub to adult ratio.
just some things i’d like to see happen to the game, and only time will tell if any of it will. There are other things i’d like to see like more costumes, but im sure some of those things will come along with holiday events and addon packages.
